Happiness is perceived as a positive or pleasant feeling an emotion that relates to a person level of contentment, excitement or overall joy. It is of importance to the human condition that “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” were deemed to be unalienable rights by the United States Declaration of Independence. However, it is important to remember that evaluating happiness isn’t a highly precise scientific promise. For one thing, happiness is a subjective term, and there’s no universal measurement for it. Therefore, just because someone smiles on the outside, it does it mean that their joy reflects internally. The institution of marriage is thought to have links to people happiness; however are they happier than their counterparts who are divorced or have never married. The aim of this study is to examine rather happiness among male and females who are married, single never married, and divorce if there level of happiness depends on their marital status.
In this research study we will be looking at two types of variables the independent variable which is the variable that is not changed by any other variable that is being measured in this study our independent variable are gender and marital status and the dependent variable is what we will be measuring in which this case the dependent variable would be happiness because we are trying to measure happiness as it relative to marital status. In order to make prediction we must pose two questions and tests to see which is true these questions are referred to as the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis. Null hypothesis: Happiness dependent on marital status, Alternative hypothesis: Happiness does not dependent on marital status. Hypothesis testing is a necessary part of statistical inference to answer questions and make predictions.
