Clerks

Clerks is a raunchy, obscene, inexpensive, and highly amusing film. It was written and directed by movie school dropout, Kevin Smith in 1994. Clerks is an independent movie that was funded for under 30,000 dollars. Smith raised the money by selling his amusing book aggregation. ( Ellis ) The movie ended up grossing $ 3.1 million on its initial domestic release by Miramax. ( Humpry ) Films produced for this sum of money would be considered recreational. However, it won top award in the Critic s Week subdivision at Cannes, and did really good at other movie festivals. This movie was successful because Kevin Smith is good author with a great sense of wit.

The movie is based on Smith s life as a convenience shop clerk. The premiss is the twenty-four hours in the life of Dante Hicks, a clerk at a & # 8220 ; Quick Stop & # 8221 ; convenience shop, after he & # 8217 ; s called in at 6am on his twenty-four hours off to stand in for the aid that ne’er showed up. Dante ( Brian O & # 8217 ; Halloran ) hates his occupation but attempts to at least keep things from acquiring excessively out of manus. This becomes progressively hard when his friend Randal ( Jeff Anderson ) keeps halting in and acquiring him in problem. Randal works at the picture rental topographic point following door, a shop seemingly so atrocious that even he goes elsewhere to acquire films. ( Johnsotn ) The movie was shot in 16mm alternatively of regular 32mm. The image is in black and white and is about like a docudrama because of the realistic scene. Besides, the camera work at times is rickety and the redacting International Relations and Security Network T perfect which adds to the entreaty of the film. The movie seems a little longer than it really is non because it & # 8217 ; s decelerate or drilling, but because the location seldom alterations. Clerks is an MTV coevals movie, full of raunchy comedy. The duologue in the movie made up for the deficiency of plot line. Smith s original stoping was Dante acquiring shooting ; I m non certain why he decided to alter it. Nevertheless, I truly enjoyed this film.
