Performance To A Targeted Audience Essay, Research Paper
~A
Adolescent Play~Introduction We were
asked to make a public presentation for a adolescent audience. We thought and discussed
many options for a capable affair and came up with relevant occurrences to
adolescents. The more considered topics were sex, school and survey force per unit area,
friendly relationship and love. Our concluding determination was about sex because we felt that sex
is a major portion of teenage old ages and that non adequate adolescents are decently educated
about sex. We besides decided that we wanted our public presentation to educate adolescents
so we used T.I.E ( Theatre in Education ) manner of theater. The mark audience
was found because of the manner we felt about sex instruction in PSHE. We felt that
twelvemonth 9 would profit from seeing our public presentation because sexual force per unit area is
aroused at about this age. Our drama was asked to be ready in one month
hence we merely had one moth to practise. ? Rehearsal
Each of
the different groups rehearsed on their ain at first until they mastered their
Acts of the Apostless. After plentifulness of practise the groups came together to practise. When
rehearsing, the different groups used improvisation techniques and attempted to
compose a simple usher book. Each of the histrions gave positions on how to better
our dry run accomplishments and helped each other with their playing accomplishments. Given the
clip that we had to practise most of it was waste and I believe this was
because some of us lacked concentration and enthusiasm. My group had certain
concerns about the improvisational books that another group used because of
the make-believe maltreatment that we had to take from another group. We overcame that
job by speaking to them about it and they toned down their books so that
no more clip would be wasted. ? The Play The
drama is about three different groups of male and female adolescents who all go to
a party. The different groups have positions about sex and different ways of
speaking about it. The male group brags to each other about their sexual
escapades when truly have non any and merely lie to affect their friends,
which shows us another common subject of equal force per unit area. This is where the misss
differ, as they do non speak about sex because of their fright of being labelled.
This besides shows us about sexism where misss would be slandered against if they
talked about any sexual confrontations. They all go to a party where a male
character ( Eugine ) who is labelled as a “ geek ” and an ordinary miss
( Rachael ) who has had secret crush on him, acquire together and hold sex. Rachael & # 8217 ; s
friends are disgusted with her for traveling with a geek and holding sex at such an
early age whereas, Eugine & # 8217 ; s friends p
raise him. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? In this drama we used a storyteller to
state the audience of the whereabouts and clip of the following scene. Our storyteller
besides interacts with the audience inquiring them of what they might believe will
go on. This would hold been utile because it would hold kept the audiences
attending. My function in the drama was a girl friend of Rachael & # 8217 ; s who accompanies
her to the party. A peculiar scene that I was in that I thought was good was
a scene where the misss talk about what they are traveling to have on to the party. My
character persuaded the other misss non to dress slackly and to cover
themselves up or else they & # 8217 ; d give the male childs the incorrect feeling. I changed the
tone of my voice to acquire into my character so that I & # 8217 ; d demo the earnestness of
the character. I could better my moving accomplishments by being more enthusiastic and
by acquiring in to it more. The Set In the
drama we used 2 different sets. The first set was one made up to look like a
schoolroom ( see diagram 1 ) . We used this set for a scene in which the male childs talk
about sex and where they ask the misss to come to the party. The 2nd set was
made up to look like a life room and this is where the “ also-rans ”
treatment and the party are set. To better the life room set we could hold
used more item by seting in small things like a java tabular array, this makes
the set look a small spot more realistic. We did non utilize any particular lighting
or alter the lighting through the drama because we did non hold entree to
illuming installations. However we did utilize music in a few of the scenes. We played
fast music while the male childs and misss where dressing and doing themselves up and
at the party. This was successful in making a party feeling for the
characters.Conclusion In my
belief, the thought and purposes of the drama was first-class because it would hold
educated and entertained an audience in one public presentation. Blending instruction with
amusement is a good thought particularly for ungratified adolescents because it keeps
their attending focused on the pleasances of acquisition and basking themselves at
the same clip. Unfortunately, we did non execute the drama. This was because of
the little sum of clip we were given to practise in and because of the clip
that people wasted. Hopefully, following clip we are given a undertaking to make and
execute a drama my category will understand the importance of clip and how it
should non be wasted because I now understand from this experience. I believe
the drama would hold been successful if we performed it and that we might hold
educated the audience about sex and the force per unit areas sex puts on adolescents as we
set out to make. Courtney? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 3rd Feb 2001
