It is the act of changing things or phenomena into international ones. This is where the people living in this world are all connected and are living as one community or better as a society and everything that is done is done considering the impact it might have on the other people since there is unity existing(Croucher,2004, p.123). There are some forces that have came together to ensure that there is globalization. These forces are; economic, political forces, technological and the sociocultural forces. Globalization as it is, is a term that is mostly used to refer to economic internalization(Croucher,2004, p.125 ). In other words this is to mean that the economy of individual nations are put together to become one or a single economy. This putting together is usually done through trade, investments, migration and also through the invention of technology. There is an argument that the internationalization of trade  and many other things which have gone global have changed the world both  for good and for bad. And also an important thing to note about globalization is the speed at which it is flourishing, it is so fast that soon many things if not the whole world will  be global and especially in the business industry(Croucher,2004. p. 129).

Another better definition is globalization is the  lack of obstruction and limits between countries so that these countries can do business  freely. But enterprenuers  define globalization as trade plan to do business  similarly in each and every place or nations. But a general definition is where by the connections among many countries in the universe strengthens in each and every aspect of their day to day activities. Most of the connections being talked about here do bring about peace and unity among these nations but others bring more problems(Croucher,2004,p. 135).

The globalization Debate

The globalization debate has always been interesting but a times it gets a bit dangerous. It is a one debate that one can never afford to miss. The issues that are usually discussed in this debate are issues that concerns the future of the economy, meaning that these issues greatly influences the growth of the economy of all nations in the universe. The whole process of internationalization or best known as globalization is very complicated(Croucher,2004,p. 140). Most of the problems that people complain about concerning globalization are actually the truth and mostly the problems touch on the economic issues and others on other matters which are purely non-economic. Most of these problems usually come up as a result of  trying to globalize different  nations into one single community while other problems are  not as a result of the globalization. The major challenge put forth is poverty and the only sure way of dealing with poverty is to let the economy to grow and in order for the economy to grow there has to be good and efficient policies on economy to reinforce the growth(Croucher,2004,p. 148). The sources claim that it is only through going global that most of the nations will be able to sustain poverty to manageable levels. And as a result, there are groups that do exist and these particular groups have been given specific duties. The first group include the group of those who are liable for running the economy at international level then the second group includes the government of the first world countries and the third one mostly includes the different organizations that are run by the government and others which are non-governmental. At this level the government of developing of nations/ countries are also included because they are people who have the greatest duty of controlling the economy and formulation of the economic policies(Croucher,2004,p. 158).

Challenges of globalization

If globalization is taken care of in the appropriate way, it can really be beneficial to all the nations in the world. But so far the good outcome of the globalization has only been felt by the minor population otherwise the rest of the world’s population has been exposed to the bad results of the same(Croucher,2004,p. 178).

One of the major challenges of globalization is on the information technology sector. The power of the invention of information technology is so immense but the ability of a chosen few to consume is restricting the growth of the markets. And with this in mind, many workers who are not experts are continuously  losing their jobs to the modern machines that have been brought about for example computers. As a result this has lead to the growth of the large numbers of the workers who are unemployed since there are only minimal chances for this huge numbers to be employed. Since there has been the removal of regional boundaries, there has also been huge exploitation of common commodities for example natural resources.(Croucher,2004,p. 185) This mostly occur in the south where there is completely nothing to hinder or even protect them from the international forces. Most of the globally known consumers are found among the rich communities but the poor people or rather poor communities are the one that are harmed by the social and environmental damages. As a result of globalization the economic abilities of just a few people is changing the culture of the whole world and authorities of the many nations of the world are now questionable for this. The following are some of the advantages of globalization;

Globalization offers the degree of competitiveness that increases market contemplation and also the financial flows. It(globalization) also measures how mobile the skilled workers are in the global market. Globalization offers the opportunity of new models of trade to come up and also to be used to initialize new forms of business protection. And for the people participating in the whole activity of globalization they have to keep changing themselves so that they can meet the ever dynamic changes in the global market(Croucher,2004,pp.197-206).

Roles of technology in development

There are many issues concerning the environment that really need the help of technology and as a result many of them have highly depended on the same for the them to be solved. This is so because there is a global repugnance by the concerned governments and the people who advice them to constitute the social and political alterations that would be vital for the reduction in production and consumption(Croucher,2004,p. 213). The kinds of technological alterations that would be important in keeping up with and hindering the continuing damage that is brought to the environment by the rise in the production and/or consumption would have to be reasonable enough because it seems the past technology will not manage to do anything. The technological alterations have to be reasonable enough not to bring about changes in the current social setting. The good news is that technology will never rely on the society in its growth and development(Croucher,2004,p. 216).

Global environmental degradation and sustainability

Since globalization is growing at a very alarming speed, it also seems like it is a process that can never be taken back that is to mean that it is irreversible. It is important to note that it is equally needy to be attentive on the impacts of trying to sustain our environment. There is an argument that claims that as the economy is growing quickly it should also be able to be sustained environmentally. The sustainability of an environment addresses this division and proposes the idea of sustaining the consumption(Croucher,2004,p. 220). This idea is usually global and it belongs to the far future. Moreover, it insists on the advantages of addressing a variety of factors that bring about the degraded environment. This is also put into relation with indices’s used in economic achievement that are more efficient than the common per capita income. There are certain types of development that are highly responsible for the degradation of the environment and this is evident in high income regions.

Relevance of gender to debates on globalization

Many assays have been put in place to introduce policies that will work to ensure that gender equity is practiced in many places. It has been seen that globalization in a way has shortened the ambitions for being equal in the matters pertaining to gender in the employment. This has been attributed to the growing power of international capital as in comparison to labor. Also the gender model modernization has changed the equality issues and has also created different political fields that are in their support of the policies(Croucher,2004,p.236).

The debate on globalization has always had its focus on relationships of the different classes. This is there to investigate if there exists a noticeable balance between labor and the capital at the different places of work. This has had a tendency though of ignoring the importance of the alterations in the way  the different gender behave and even the way they relate. What are the effects of globalization on policies in the places of work? Does globalization make jobs to be more available for women?

There are numerous debates that have come up on the relations as it pertains to the issues of employment that have to be put together so that the issue may be properly dealt with. The first debate deals with the issues of gender in the welfare state,trying to analyze if women have been given equal opportunities in the state welfare or there  has been some kind of bias. The other debate addresses the nature of gender in the market of the current labor(Croucher,2004,p. 242). These debates have developed many interesting discussions on who should be the main sole breadwinner in a society and also other communities. The debates have made assumptions that there are very few things that women can do in our current economy and therefore the women are taken as or rather seen as wives and basically the mothers to our children. This perception on its own restricts the women from venturing into the dynamic economic world where they can also help in making the world a better place for all of us. Women as it is argued by some scholars, have the same abilities as the men do have and therefore there is no major need of inequality when it comes to employment. Due to the culture that once existed, that claimed that some jobs were reserved for men. This no longer exists because those job that were believed that were purely meant for men are being done by women in the modern world.
