The hero’s journey is an aspect that’s found in many books and even films. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a really celebrated book read by many English categories based on a hero’s journey. The characters in this book battle to happen out what their journey is. particularly the chief character Amir. Refusal of the call means the hero efforts to decline the escapade because he is afraid. Amir holds back from making a batch in the book because he is afraid of the result that comes along with it. Even though Amir refuses the call he subsequently accepts and winds up making good workss ; nevertheless. I still don’t believe he’s the hero because he doesn’t protect Hassan ; he frames Hassan because he feels guilty about non protecting him when he should hold. and he lets category and race get in the manner of their friendly relationship. Refusal of the call plays a large function in The Kite Runner because most of the characters refuse to make something. Baba refuses to acquire intervention for his malignant neoplastic disease ; Amir at first garbages to travel back to Kabul ; and Hassan refuses to remain in Kabul. In hero’s journey narratives. the hero feels diffident and afraid of the escapade in front of them. which is why they refuse the call.

Amir eventually put his fright aside and heads back to Kabul. Even though Amir finally accepts the call and has done some good workss throughout the book. he is non a full on hero. The good title that Amir has done was travel back to Kabul to follow Hassan’s boy Sohrab because Hassan and his married woman have been murdered. Amir goes to the Taliban who has Sohrab and attempts to acquire them to give him Sohrab. The Taliban in the room was giving Amir a truly difficult clip about acquiring to Sohrab and kept inquiring Amir inquiries. Amir eventually figured out who the Taliban truly was. Assef wouldn’t Lashkar-e-Taiba Amir take Sohrab due to make “unfinished business” .

Amir refused to travel back to Kabul to salvage Sohrab but so eventually realizes that Hassan would of done it for him. so he ended up go forthing his household in America to salvage Sohrab for Hassan. The first clip Amir refuses the call is when Amir wins The Kite Runner tourney for the first clip with Hassan’s aid. After Amir cuts the other individuals kite. Hassan goes to trail the blue kite down for Amir. Amir exclaims that Hassan doesn’t demand to make that for him and as Hassan is running for the kite. he shouts “for you a thousand times over” and returns to acquire the kite ( 67 ) .

Amir goes to look for Hassan and finds Hassan speaking to the bully Assef and his friends but what Amir didn’t know was the worst was about to go on. Since Hassan refused to give Assef the blue kite because it was Amir’s. Assef said. “I’ve changed my head. I’m allowing you keep the kite. Hazara. I’ll Lashkar-e-Taiba you maintain it so it will ever remind you of what I’m about to do” ( 73 ) . Assef and his friends rapidly raped Hassan and so run off. Amir had to watch the whole thing. This is an illustration of declining the call because Amir refused to stand up for Hassan and state something because he was scared they’d do the same thing to him and that doesn’t make Amir a hero. The 2nd clip Amir refuses the call is when Amir did nil to protect Hassan as he watched Assef and his friend’s colza him. Amir’s cowardice besides gets in the manner. so he ends up bordering Hassan.

Amir feels so guilty and can’t take the guilt any longer to where he waits for Hassan and his pa Ali to go forth the house and he frames Hassan by seting the ticker that Baba gave him and the money he got for his birthday under Hassan mattress that manner Baba would inquire them to go forth so Amir didn’t have to cover with the guilt any longer. Subsequently throughout the book Amir starts to recognize that Hassan is more than merely his retainer. Hassan has ever called Amir his friend and brother but Amir could ne’er come out and state it back.

Once Amir eventually realized that Hassan was really his best friend and even brother. Amir regrets everything one time Hassan died because he couldn’t travel back and alteration it. Amir was considered high category and Hassan was a Hazara. which was name for a lower category afghan. so their category differences made it difficult for Amir to name Hassan his friend because he was scared of what others would believe of him. Because others new Hassan as Amir’s retainer. it besides made it difficult for Amir to state people that Hassan and him were really friends. This is an illustration of declining the call because Amir had ever wanted to name Hassan his friend. but was ever scared of what others would believe because Hassan was a Hazara and Amir’s retainer. Because Amir was so frightened of what others thought. that doesn’t make him a hero.

In decision. I would wish to state that through the hero’s journey facet of refusal of the call. even though Amir has done some good workss. like go back to Kabul to salvage and follow Sohrab. he still wasn’t a true hero because he doesn’t protect Hassan from acquiring raped and after watching it go on. he frames Hassan because he feels so guilty about non making anything to protect him when he should hold. and he lets category and race issues get in the manner of their friendly relationship. Hosseini portrays Amir in The Kite Runner by doing him travel through a batch of tough obstructions throughout the book particularly when he was younger and holding to do life-changing determinations.

Amir refused to confront most of the obstructions he was given in the book. but as he grew up. he accepted the fact that he needed to get the better of his fright and complete those obstructions. When we’re younger we get scared to make certain things. but as we get older we realize that we need to make the things that scare us in order to go the hero. Though one might decline the call because of fright. as you grow older you end up accepting the fact that you need to confront the call and travel through with any obstruction is put in your tract merely like Amir did when he had to confront traveling to salvage Sohrab. Whether you face your obstructions or non. that is what makes you a true hero.
