New York is situated in north-east of the USA in the province of N. Y. Of the Empire State.
In comrade with such ancient historical metropoliss as Rome, London & A ; Paris, New York is rather immature. It was founded in 1613 by Dutch colonists. A Dutch-man Peter Minuit bought Manhattan Island from the Indians for 24 dollars & A ; a barrel of rum. The Americans say that this was the best concern trade of all time made in New York. In 1613 the Dutch had built merely four little houses in Manhattan. New Amsterdam was the first name of the metropolis. After the English had taken over the metropolis in 1626, it was renamed New York after the Duke of York who was commanding officer of the ground forces.
During the War for Independence New York was an of import political centre & A ; for 5 old ages from 1785 – boulder clay 1790, the capital of the USA. The population of New York Numberss 10 million people, together with the population of it ‘s suburbs it comes to 16 million people

The wall was subsequently broken down, but the name remained.
Harlem – the largest Negro ghetto is besides in Manhattan. The houses are old & A ; dirty, there are few schools & A ; few infirmaries. Very many Blacks are out of work because a coloured individual in the USA “ is the last to be hired & A ; the first to be fired ” . Like other capitalists metropoliss New York is the metropolis of deep societal contrasts.
