Chapter II ( pg. 59, 60, 64 )

The Ineluctable Truth

The isolation and bravery that Hester Pryne felt when she walked to the scaffold to face world brought out my deepest understanding and regard for her. Hester, followed by a crowd of & # 8220 ; stern-browed work forces, & # 8221 ; & # 8220 ; unkindly visaged adult females, & # 8221 ; and & # 8220 ; funny school male childs, & # 8221 ; begins the walk from the gaol to the scaffold. She seems to be proud and dignified. However, internally, she feels great torment, for she was scorned and mocked by the accusing Puritans. She eventually arrives at the scaffold, exposing the two consequences of her criminal conversation ; the vermilion missive and her kid, Pearl. In order to get away her isolation, Hester goes into her interior psyche and into the past. In Hester? s & # 8220 ; dusky mirror & # 8221 ; of imaginativeness, she remembers her old place in England, her female parent, her male parent, and most of all, her ain vernal face. Then, she thinks of the matrimonial life with her hubby, a & # 8220 ; tussock of green moss on a crumpling wall & # 8221 ; . The & # 8220 ; green moss & # 8221 ; symbolizes Hester? s young person, which was cleaving onto the & # 8220 ; crumpling wall & # 8221 ; , which represents her elderly hubby. She tries to loser herself in past memories, but world rears its ugly caput. A few minutes subsequently, her head jumps back to world. In amazement, she clutches the kid and places her finger on the vermilion missive. This shows that world is ineluctable, even though we try to get away from it sometimes.

This brave journey to world won my esteem and apprehension. When I was eight old ages old, I clearly retrieve the clip when our household celebrated the Chinese New Year. Since I was still immature and didn? Ts have much manners, I had to sit entirely on a separat

vitamin E tabular array. The more I saw the grownups basking themselves, the more ferocious I got. However, I felt helpless for I couldn? Ts do anything about it. Then, I saw my aunt lifting from her chair to acquire a bowl of soup from the other terminal of the tabular array. I rapidly took this chance and pulled the chair off from her. Unaware that the chair was losing, she sat down and fell backwards, dropping the bowl and doing a muss. My angered parents, catching me by the ears, made me kneel down in forepart of everybody and apologise. Bing the obstinate individual I am, I refused. Thus, I kept on kneeling on the land. Looking at my ain contemplation off the polished floor, I wondered why I got in such a muss. Memories of the past swept into my head. I started chew overing about my leggo aggregation and how amazing it was. Besides, I recollected how sort and soft my parents were merely a few yearss before this dinner. What I was really making was seeking to hedge world. However, the more I thought, the more down I got. The guilt inside me began to come up. Finally, throwing myself into the weaponries of world, I apologized. Unable to command my emotions, I broke into unmanageable shortness of breath and started shouting aloud. This won understanding from all the relations and I was allowed to sit with them and bask the dinner together.

We frequently try to hedge world, but world is ineluctable. When Hester was on the scaffold, confronting shame and humiliation, she thought of her yesteryear in order to bury her present state of affairs on the scaffold. Similarly, when I was eight old ages old, kneeling down in forepart of everybody, I excessively tried to lose myself in past memories. However, both Hester and I are still faced with world, no affair where are heads are.
