The Theme of Death in Poems

Death is a common subject in many verse forms. It is viewed so otherwise to

everyone. In the verse form, & # 8220 ; Because I could non halt for Death, & # 8221 ; & # 8220 ; First Death in

Nova Scotia, & # 8221 ; and & # 8220 ; War is sort & # 8221 ; decease is presented by each storyteller as something

different. To one it is a sort soft alien while to another it is a cold

cruel being.

A sort gentleman alien personifies decease in, & # 8220 ; Because I could non

halt for Death. & # 8221 ; The storyteller of the verse form is a busy individual, with small clip,

and decidedly no clip to decease. Her passenger car driver, which is decease, arrives to

take her into immortality. Death International Relations and Security Network & # 8217 ; t hasty, he doesn & # 8217 ; Ts take her rapidly. He

thrusts her past things that the storyteller had non taken the clip to detect in a

while. The storyteller watched as he drives her yesteryear a school, where kids are

playing, and so on they go past Fieldss. She sees the Sun go down, and the

passenger car driver past the Sun, but she realizes they weren & # 8217 ; t go throughing the Sun, it

was go throughing them ; clip was go throughing by, past her life. Her life has now past her

by, and she is geting at her concluding finish, which was her grave, yet she

describes it as her house. In the terminal she is looking back, and sees how

centuries have passed, yet she isn & # 8217 ; t passing by anymore, and to her this 100

old ages seems as no clip at all. Finally she accepts her decease, and is able to

base on balls into infinity. To her decease wasn & # 8217 ; t harsh like some see it, but a kindly,

soft psyche, taking her for a passenger car drive to her concluding place.

A kid experiences decease much otherwise than an grownup. Children

aren & # 8217 ; t rather able to see decease as the sad even that it is. & # 8220 ; First Death in Nova

Scotia & # 8221 ; Tells of a immature male childs decease, and his cousins position of it. We are shown

Arthur & # 8217 ; s decease through the eyes of a kid. The small miss, our storyteller,

depict the scene of her cousins funeral. Her focal point nevertheless is non how we

might believe that she would comprehend it. She describes to us images of the

Royal household hanging in the room, and of a stuffed loon that her uncle had

killed. To me it seems that she sees this event, her cousins decease, as an

honored event, one that the most pristine peo

ple are go toing. She begins by

stating us of the royals hanging in the room, and stop speaking of them once more.

In the last stanza, she mentions the gracious royal twosomes and how they have

invited cousin Arthur to be the smallest page in their tribunal. It is as though

she is seeking to do this event an honest one, alternatively of one of bereavement,

and unhappiness as most see it. In the verse form, the colourss were mentioned often,

and the small miss many times mentioned how white cousin Arthur was. She

mentioned to white, frozen lake of the loon that was a marble topped tabular array. The

colour of Arthur was besides white, like a doll that hadn & # 8217 ; t been painted. She

played a lily in his manus, yet another personification of purple chinese houses by the colour

of the flower. This shaping of the colour is symbolic, or the young person and

artlessness of Arthur. It represents how he was but a kid, and his decease was

non such a sad juncture, but the pickings of artlessness from one topographic point, to a better

one. Again in this poem decease was non personified as immorality, but as a gentle

remotion of the life and young person of an guiltless immature male child.

In the verse form & # 8220 ; War is Kind & # 8221 ; the storyteller uses irony to expose decease.

He begins in the first stanza, stating a immature adult female whose lover has been killed

in war, how baronial his decease was. He state her non to cry because he died in

glorification. Yet in the 2nd stanza hedescibes the horror of the war, and how

barbarian it truly is. He portrays the death of the many people as in vena,

instead than in glorification, and award. The storyteller goes back and Forth from

lauding the death of the soldiers, to stating of its stupidity, and how genuinely

unhonorable it is. Death is portrayed as phial in this verse form, and is shown to be

that through the usage of irony.

In these three verse forms decease is personified and viewed as several

different things. One sees it as a sort alien. In another decease is viewed

as a cold, juncture, yet about like a party. Last we see decease and death as

a baronial thing in a sarcastic tone. The storyteller is relaly stating us how horid

the decease truly is. While decease is a common subject of many verse forms each poet has

a different position of it, and describes it to us uniquily.
