Their Eyess Were Watching God

Their Eyess Were Watching God is a narrative about the life of Janie

Crawford and the adversities and victory in her three matrimonies, though there

were many more adversities. In this essay I will portion with you the scene, some

characters, incidents from the secret plan, the subject, and point of position.

This narrative begins in the 1930 s when Janie returns to her place in

Eatonville, Florida. She so begins to tell her life narrative to her closest

friend, Phoeby. The narrative so shifts on to assorted metropoliss in South Florida,

chiefly Eatonville and the Florida Everglades.

Janie Crawford, the chief character, was a fair-skinned, black adult female

who was admired by many. She was married three times ; her first matrimony

was at the age of 16 which was arranged by her grandma. Janie

displayed a run of her independency and individuality when she left her foremost

hubby, and lived entirely for months after her 2nd died. Throughout her life

Janie demonstrated a brave personality as she traveled from matrimony to

matrimony without believing twice.

Tea Cake Woods, Janie s 3rd hubby, was a younger adult male in his

mid-thirtiess. He was a free-spirited, mobile individual, who s chief beginning of income

was derived from chancing. Tea Cake met his decease when in a rabid fury, he

was shot in self-defense by Janie.

Janie s first matrimony came out of the blue, she w

as 16 old ages old and

forced by her grandma to turn up. She married Logan Killicks, a

landholder who forced Janie into difficult labour, something she non was

accustomed to. This led to her abandoning the matrimony and running off to

marry Joe Starks, her 2nd hubby.

Joe Starks, was a affluent adult male and promised Janie that if she were his

married woman she would non be out ploughing the Fieldss, but offered her the key to the

land. In exchange for that Janie had to yield to take downing abuses and

to silence. She lived with Joe Starks for twenty old ages until he died. Nine

months subsequently she married Tea Cake Woods, and moved to the Everglades.

I feel that the subject of this book is achieving self look, by traveling

out and happening it for yourself. It was something that Janie had wanted her

whole life but did non accomplish until she met her last hubby Tea Cake.

The point of position of this narrative was all-knowing. Although the narrative was

being told by Janie Crawford at all times the reader knew what everyone else s

ideas were. For case, when Janie went to happen the physician you knew what

was go oning in the house with Tea Cake.

I believe that this was a pretty nice book, at times it was tiring and

uninteresting, but at other times it was entertaining. In many cases the

duologue was difficult to understand and follow. I believe that without it the book

would non hold the same impact on the reader and would lose its life.
