The United States has become the mark of the most recent terrorist onslaughts

because of it? s political engagement in the in-between E. The United States has had

engagement in the center E of all time since before the Gulf War which took topographic point in

the early 1990? s. Their engagement began in the early 80? s when they were called

to assist out Isreal, an ally which was being harrasses by Palestine. Their presence

has been felt there since and the U.S. has acted like International Police.

The presence of the United States has been felt in that part of the

in-between E since the 1980? s and has upset certain groups of Muslims who do non

desire them at that place. The U.S. first became involved in the in-between E when it eventually

recognized the Palestinian Liberation Organization ( P.L.O. ) , an organisation

which was developed to assist the Palestinians try to retrieve land that they lost

when the state of Isreal was created in 1948. The United States foreign policy

limited the P.L.O. ? s success because it made of certain regulations that the P.L.O. had to

follow before the U.S. eventually recognized it as being the representative of all

Palestinian Arabs. The P.L.O. had to accept the being Isreal as a

province, withdraw military personnels from Isreal, and to populate in peace within secure and

recognized boundaries. This did non s

et good with the P.L.O. They refused to

accept Isreal as a province and in return the Americans did non regcognize the P.L.O.

as an organisation but stil kept military personnels at that place to seek and maintain the peace. This is

where the U.S. first seen marks of terrorist act. There were bombardments, hi-jackings,

and shots directed at civilian marks by Palestinians who claimed that their

actions were political statements. The P.L.O. failed to condem the usage of

internations terrorist tactics andeven thought they do hold a no tolerance policy

towards terrorist act.

Since the Gulf War, the United States has continued to carry on covert

military operations in Iraq, which largely involved the C.I.A. Their end was to

over throw Saddam Hussein in which their many efforts failed. The U.S. set up a

Kurdish deserter cantonment where in northern Iraq where its purpose was to protect 3.5

million Kurds, who rebeled against Baghdad near the terminal of the Gulf War, from

onslaughts by Saddam Hussein. This was a? Safe Haven? for many refugees and

deserters from Iraq? s ground forces which was aruond 14,000 square stat mis.

Some groups in the in-between E have developed a hatred towards the United

States military being in their land. Some allowed their hatred to go so deep as

to construct terrrorist cantonments where people are trained to go future terrorists and

soldier of fortunes.
