The Beauty of Poetry

I chose to analyse two verse forms in this essay. These are the & # 8220 ; Ending Poem & # 8221 ; and & # 8220 ; this is non the topographic point where I was born & # 8221 ; . Both were chosen from the book Currents from the Dancing River Book. I found these two books to incorporate similar subjects and both seem to be of a modern genre.

These verse forms deal with household and the roots that connect them to the yesteryear. Both recognize that they themselves are disassociated with their past although they still acknowledge where they come from. I find the subject nowadays in these two verse forms to be a really common subject in Chicano poesy, particularly modern 1s. While reading both made verse form I found that both made mention to non belonging to their native lands but at the same clip they acknowledge they are connected to their roots. Both Poems seem to exhibit concern over non having recognition for their background, they seem to demo a temper of being victimized and looked down upon because of their diverse background.

The & # 8220 ; Ending Poem & # 8221 ; I s about a individual acknowledging what they are and where they are descended from. They acknowledge their diverse back land but recognize that they are one thing, & # 8220 ; a kid of the Americas & # 8221 ; ( Morales, Line two ) . A kid of the Americas significance they come from every portion of the continent, they have a diverse background. This talker realizes how many different adult females from so many different topographic points have been involved in them falling to present twenty-four hours. They let this be known when they say, & # 8220 ; I am a kid of many female parents & # 8221 ; ( Morales, 556 ) . I found that this individual feels alienated from their yesteryear but at the same clip they come near to it, although they know they can & # 8217 ; t return to the yesteryear. The yesteryear is excessively far off to be accessed and they must settle for what is in the present non in the yesteryear. They make this clear when mentioned that they were born at a hamlets. I think this work reflects late Chicano poesy. The ground because it expresses disaffection but credence from what they are alienated. They can & # 8217 ; t relate to their parents past but they realize it is what made them and they will go through it on to their kids and so away. Although the & # 8220 ; Ending Poem & # 8221 ; makes mention to the yesteryear and how it relates to them, the talker seems more secure of themselves and this characterizes the more modern plants of Chicano poets. There is besides no resistance to absorbing in the society they live in, which characterizes it as being a late poesy work.

This verse form seems to be on a more personal footing, which characterizes it as a late poesy work. The verse form besides makes usage of imagination, one illustration is where they say, & # 8220 ; Looney Toon sketch characters with badges in their athlete straps & # 8221 ; , this represents the corrupt governments in the verse form ( page 2, line 8 ) . This verse form besides deals with racial tensenesss, which is another component of late Chicano poesy. It allows you to reflect on the differences that exist between the yesteryear and the present, by seting it in a comparison/contrast signifier. Overall this verse form deals with the function your fatherland has on you and what household means. Maybe it is set in a different manner but both verse forms still have common subjects. Both verse forms are of a late period in Chicano Poetry and they allow you to plunge into them with their limited usage of imagination. All the literary elements that lead to this common subject are at that place.
