Dark City

I did my book study on Dark City by Frank Lauria. The chief characters in the book were John Murdoch, Mr. Hand, and Mr. Book. Since Murdoch woke up in the icy bathing tub in a unusual room, he has been leery of everything. He is wanted for a series of barbarous slayings which he can t retrieve perpetrating. He subsequently finds out that he posses a power called tuning, which allows you to halt clip and alter peoples perceptual experiences. Sort of similar encephalon use. He shortly finds out that he is being pursued by an foreign race who call themselves the Strangers. They want him because he is immune to their encephalon use, so he is a menace to their eccentric universe order. John Murdoch is the supporter in this book and he seeks to unknot the distorted mystifier of his yesteryear and individuality. Mr. Hand is a smart character who besides possesses the method of tuning. When he found out that Murdoch knew how to tune, Mr. Hand was injected with Murdoch s memories so he could believe like Murdoch, and defeat him. Mr. Hand is a Stranger himself, he takes orders from Mr. Book. Mr. Book is the adversary in the book. He is the leader of the Underworld ruled by the Strangers. He is really wise and thinks up the processs for taking over the metropolis. He assigns each one of the aliens to a sector in the metropolis. When he got intelligence that a adult male named John Murdoch was immune to their tunning, he knew he has to believe up something fast. Mr. Book can besides tune. Lapp with the other Strangers.

The secondary characters were Inspector Frank Bumstead, Dr. Daniel Poe Schreber, Emma Murdoch, Mr. Rain, Mr. Sleep, Mr. Quick, Mr. Wall, and all the remainder of the Strangers that weren T named. Frank Bumstead plays the function of an inspector. Dr. Schreber is Murdoch s beginning. He helps him ever stay one measure in front of the Strangers. He besides works for them but in secret provides information to Murdoch. Emma is John Murdoch s married woman. She played a portion of triping Murdochs suspicion when she told him she was his married woman, and he didn T know. The remainder of the Strangers such as Mr. Wall and the 1s that weren T named work with Mr. Hand and Mr. Book, thei

R leader. They are all assigned to a sector in the metropolis to take over, and gather more hosts.

Dark City is about an foreign race who developed the ability melody, and besides move tonss of affair around-just by believing about it. The job is that their death off for non-specific grounds, and have searched throughout the galaxy for surrogate agencies of endurance. They encountered the Earth, or at least an Earth-like planet, and used it to carry on experiments. They think that human heads may offer the key to their species & # 8217 ; endurance. A adult male named John Murdoch awakens entirely in a unusual hotel. He is wanted for a series of slayings. The job is he doesn t retrieve anything. He s non even certain if he killed anyone. Subsequently on in the narrative he begins to inquire if he is traveling insane. He meets a adult female named Emma and finds out she is his married woman. Finally he stumbles upon an underworld controlled by foreigners called the Strangers. Their program is to command all worlds heads get downing with the people in the metropolis their in. Since Murdoch can besides tune he is immune to the brainwashing of the Strangers. Thus going a job to the Strangers. As he is being pursued he gets utile information from his beginning Dr. Schreber. This lets him remain one measure in front from the Strangers that want him dead. John Murdoch sets off in effort to repossess his memory from the Strangers every bit good as happen all the replies to his inquiries he has pondered.

An interesting portion of the narrative was when Dr. Schreber was blending up a batch of memories, deep in the underworld, and Mr. Book confronted him. Mr. Book exclaimed, & # 8220 ; You have been in contact with Murdoch & # 8221 ; and so he lifted the physician upside down in the air. The physician said that he had seen Murdoch but non talked to him. Mr. Book spun around violently. & # 8220 ; You think us saps, Schreber! Mr. Hand saw you! What one sees we all see. & # 8221 ;

I liked this book because of the strong secret plan, and the fact that it made you think about it after each intriguing chapter. If you liked the film the Matrix you ll decidedly like this book. I recommend it to everyone who has an involvement in Science Fiction or merely likes something interesting to read.
