White persons Rise. Blacks Fall
“Not merely a Finch waiting on tabular arraies. but one in the courthouse lawing for n*****s! ” ( 135 ) . This is an abuse clearly said by Mrs. Dubose. a fictional character introduced by Harper Lee in To Kill a Mockingbird. It is apparent from Mrs. Dubose’s statement that inkinesss are discriminated against in Maycomb County. Lee’s fictional scene located in Alabama. The “Jim Crow” Torahs cause the inequality in the Maycomb community. The Torahs keep Black from holding the same rights as white citizens: “She ran to the forepart porch…she’s supposed to travel around in back” ( 124 ) . Scout. another fictional character created by Lee. is saying this. She is mentioning to the point that their black cook. Calpurnia. is traveling to the front door of a neighbor’s house alternatively of the dorsum. The “Jim Crow” Torahs obviously explain that no Negro is supposed to travel to the forepart of a white man’s house ; inkinesss have to strike hard and come in from the dorsum.
