Populating A Lie
In the novel, Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison, a character known as the storyteller goes through an eye-opening experience where he allows society to destruct his individuality. The storyteller describes himself as an unseeable adult male life in a displaced universe where people do non detect him. He becomes lost within the racial conformances of clip impacting his passage to manhood. It forces him to populate a life as a prevarication in a universe where he is non honorable with himself ; insecure about his beliefs ; and confused about his individuality. Destined to be one of the outstanding black work forces of America, he succumbs to world by conforming to the positions of others.

As the fresh moves frontward, the storyteller begins believing of ways to return to college and do something of himself. Aware of the fact that they kicked him out of school for unacceptable behavior, he still believes his hereafter is promising and nil will stand in his manner. Encouraged by friends and concerned brothers, he joins a Brotherhood order where they teach him how to be a better individual. After the storyteller becomes a member of the Brotherhood, he finds himself transporting out orders and following with everything asked of him. & # 8220 ; Right or incorrect, & # 8221 ; they instruct him to make what they ask without inquiry. Disappointed and confused with the Brotherhood, he decides to fly and presume the individuality of a adult male named Rhinehart. This individuality leads him to fame, power, and regard. It is non long before the storyteller realizes his new individuality as a goon, ironically, is one of a sermonizer every bit good.
