Ayse Birsel was born in Turkey, which is, as she states, A land of contrasts. Birsels designs, like her are filled with combinations of contrasting points of position. Similar to Ayses fatherland of Turkey, where rather modern thoughts and patterns live side-by-side with centuries-old constructions and imposts, her designs make everything work together in harmoniousness. She was born in the metropolis near the port of Izmir, which is the Turkish Smyrna, a town which is more than two thousand old ages old. Here she took in a, Mediterranean cosmopolitanism.

Ayse studied industrial design at Middle Eastern Technical University in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. She was at that place from 1981 until 1985. From there she received a Fulbright scholarship which brought her to Pratt Institute in New York City where she worked for her Masters grade. From Pratt she took off recollections of great interior decorators and professors named Bruce Hannah, Rowena Reed, and Peter Barna from whom she learned a no-nonsense position on design. Ayse provinces, a manner of condensing jobs, solutions, and signifiers to their kernel. These few words became her position toward the industrial design field. Condensing jobs, interrupting them down, which can uncover the reply to a design job. This can be seen in her work she has done for Herman Miller.

Ayse being rather blunt with her speech production helped all who viewed her address to recognize how she fits into the design universe. Ayse told us really bluffly, being and foreigner is a large aid. Because I m nescient of so many things, I find it easy to join forces with people who can learn me, she says. Her willingness to accept new thoughts comes in ready to hand in the universe of design. She feels interior decorators benefit from being apart. Besides, that being able to see from the outside she feels she has more of an advantage without the bias of being in America from twenty-four hours one of her design universe.

With the position she has toward design she enjoys working with organisation that is ever interested in alteration. And that organisation was found in Herman Miller. She feels she is non really good at giving new signifier to old thoughts. Design for Ayse is a selfish procedure in her head. She states that she designs because she likes to and she feels we should make the same thing. Although invention is frequently the result of her work she does non endeavor to introduce in her chase toward a merchandise. Excessively much accent on invention produces excessively much debris, Ayse says. She ever asks herself, Why? and, Why non? She told us that we should non seek ever to introduce but make a new along the same margins as the old yet do non concentrate on what is already in being.

Ayse is rather an acclaimed interior decorator. Her senior thesis at Pratt, which was entitled, The Water Room, won her an ID Award for Concepts and the Design of the Future competition in Japan. Then after that, with her professor Bruce Hannah from Pratt she began planing a aggregation of office furniture and accoutrements. In 1995, she designed a combination bidet and lavatories for a Nipponese maker entitle, Toto. Then in June of 1997 she began to work on the Resolve Office System. She began to develop a gustatory sensation for office furniture that a batch of interior decorators tend to make. We were lucky plenty to be able to see her whole design procedure and what went into Resolve. It genuinely was an astonishing procedure that she went though. This system can be seen throughout the universe in offices. Office furniture is turning and the competition is turning merely as fast.

The Office

Office furniture in the Middle East if one of its largest furniture exports. There are 100s of companies which deal with office furniture and that besides export off of their fatherland. One company which is endeavoring to be the leader in office furniture in the Mid-East is that which is called, N.I.A. Metal Furniture. This company is located in Israel and was founded in 1964 by General Manager Mr. Nissim Bechar. In 1993 they made the move toward the public way and established themselves in the Tel Aviv stock exchange where its stoc

Kansass are traded. Their merchandises cover a big scope of life styles. Most of it is directed toward offices yet they deal with forte stores like Coffee suites and Restaurants. They carry a big choice of seating, shelving, and dining elements in their line. Some of Israeli s taking interior decorators are in squad with N.I.A. Each alone design is engineered utilizing the most advanced metal working engineering. The interior decorators can persue beautiful forms and achieve great sensuous curves since they are non hindered in their design due to the deficiency of engineering. Basically, whatever they can plan it can be made into world.

The engineering at N.I.A. is astonishing compared to many other mills. N.I.A. s near 120 employee staff have the chance to busy any assorted section that suites their cognition. And there are plentifulness of sections to travel around. In the past the selling at N.I.A. has been targeted toward a prima furniture maker. So N.I.A. was moving as a subcontractor for the last 10 old ages. Merely late have they began covering straight with the consumers themselves. Basically cutting out the jobber to concentrate the design of their merchandise straight to the purchaser. International selling for N.I.A has merely begun late. They have broadened their range to England and Germany and besides here to America. Some of their purchasers include: Burger King, King David Hotel, Blue Moon, Pizza Hut and many others.

The engineering at N.I.A is a major promotion in the furniture design field. Laser and Water Jet cutting in the new moving ridge of engineering come ining the site. They have the ability to take a file off the Personal computer and are so able to publish out the existent metal stamping. This helps a great trade in the devising of their office designs with pierced metals and louvered panels. Technology has taken this company and many others to a new degree in the design environment.

Technology

Technology and computing machine aided design ( CAD ) have been taking the design industry by storm. There is less and less pencil to paper and custodies on fabricating traveling on now in the design workplace. This means better merchandises with close flawless curves, borders, and mechanical workings. There are plans out at that place for computing machines that, if you can pull it in a CAD plan it can be made in 3D signifier by a 3D pressman. It will really publish out a full size theoretical account to any complexness. This is along the lines of stereolythography, which is a computing machine aided laser theoretical account shaper. This makes merchandise development addition in a major manner. One company in the Middle East that has this sort of engineering at their disposal, once more is N.I.A.

N.I.A has many different machining techiniques. Laser film editing, H2O jet film editing, electrostatic picture and shot-blasting are all used in their persuit to make the perfect merchandise. A twin-head optical maser is used to diminish cost, addition quality and to rush up the whole procedure. Their optical maser cutting systems have been revolutionized to better upon past designs up to ten times the old velocity. These optical masers will cut through about any stuff used by them. Some stuffs include: Iron, Galvanized and Stainless steels, plastic, plyboard, and even MDF ( Medium Density Fiberboard ) . The cutting thicknesses of these scope from a mere 6mm up to 30 millimeter on the softer stuffs. Now if Laser cutting wasn t plenty and non fast plenty, there comes Water Jet Cutting. The truth of a H2O jet cutter is around 0.2mm which is the same as the optical maser procedure. Yet, unlike the thickness limits that the optical maser cutter has, the H2O jet can cut even the most delicate stuffs and travel even thicker on the optical maser cut 1s. Water jet cutters have the ability to cut marble and even glass. The plastic thickness, to set it in position, optical maser film editing can cut chromium steel steel up to 6mm and H2O jet ranges from 6mm all the manner up to 20mm midst. Laser can cut fictile up to 25 millimeters thick and H2O jet will make from 20mm to 100mm. This broadens the skyline on which design stuff to utilize for what occupation and speeds the whole occupation up in general. Accuracy degrees addition and merchandises all seem to suit better together.
