The great Muses are called upon by Homer to state the great escapade of Odysseus

in his travel back to his place. Prayers are given to the Grecian Gods and Muses by

Homer in order to continue this narrative. The Greeks life revolved around the Gods

in a affair of manner as we soon revolve around Christianity. The

word picture of the functions the Gods played in the Odyssey is both presented in good

and immorality. The Greeks portrayed their Gods as powerful and merciful. However in

the Odyssey the Gods play a function in a savior like Jesus Christ and the tormenter

like Satan. With the present function in the narrative of Odyssey the Gods can be seen

as a cardinal function in Odysseus life. Odysseus entirely can non hold escaped the

unreliable Trojan War without the assistance of the Gods. However can it be reconcile

that the Gods were genuinely the 1s who controlled our lives? In Odysseus? s instance

the Gods played a critical function. Throughout the full narrative Athena was the crutch

Odysseus and his household leaned on in the clip of assistance. Through the unreliable

waies Odysseus traveled it was hope of seeing Penelope and his boy Telemachus

that brought him strength and wisdom. With the loves one left behind Odysseus

dauntlessly face the Gods and tramplings over their challenges. Without the aid of

Athena and her wisdom and devotedness to Odysseus his challenges would be aid with

no boundaries. With Athena on Odysseus side, he was able to return place without

any injuries done to him or his household. With the Gods in favour of Odysseus return

all he had to contend was the challenges Poseidon threw at him. With the H2O

being the lone route back to his place this challenge was fare more hard so

the Trojan War itself. With the counsel of Athena Odysseus was safely re

turned

to Ithica. Even though Athena played a cardinal function in Odysseus life she was still

unable to protect him from the challenges he faced with Poseidon, Calypso, and

Helios. The Gods can be seen as Odysseus? s sub-conscience. Athena being

Odysseus? s wisdom, Helios the jealousy hidden in our wonder, Calypso the

enticement we face, and Poseidon the challenges in life we face mundane. These

chief Gods played a cardinal function in Odysseus? s life. Poseidon tormented blinded

Polyphemus. Poseidon would hold ne’er tormented Odysseus if merely he kept his

braggart self-quiet. A lesson in life learned by Odysseus to maintain him self-

low at all times. Odysseus faced other challenges that slowed his journey

towards place seem longer. Calypso who kept Odysseus on her island for seven

old ages offered him the impossible. Odysseus with his married woman in head declined the

gift for a transition towards place. With enticement and challenges that blockaded

Odysseus journey place. However Odysseus and his asleep crew could of made it

place safely if it wasn? T for the wonder and green-eyed monster of the crew to open

the bag of air current and their evil enticement to kill and eat Helios cattles. The Gods

playing minor functions it was human nature that brought the crewmembers to their

day of reckoning and slowed Odysseus down from returning place. Homer portrayed human nature

with the Gods and goddesses. We are our ain enemy. We are the 1s who lay the

way in our life and finish. However there are bumps in the word that slow

us down and interrupt us down. With hope we resist enticement and fight immoralities off.

The Gods in the Odyssey portrayed the good and evil in human nature. Odysseus

being the hero of the Odyssey resisted and learned valuable lessons in life on

his escapade back place.
