We live in Usinsk. It & # 8217 ; s a little town with the population of about 60 thousand people situated near the river Usa in the north-east of the Komi Republic. Usinsk is immature it was founded in 1975. It is a transnational town, the people of many nationalities live here – the Russians, the Ukranians, the Tatars, the Komis, the Bashkirs and so on.
The clime is terrible, the winter is cold and long it lasts for 6-8 months, the spring and the summer are short and cool.
Usinsk territory is rich in oil, so they get oil here. There are many industrial endeavors in it connected with oil extraction, they are & # 171 ; Komineft & # 187 ; , & # 171 ; Arkhangelsk Negtegaz & # 187 ; and others. There are some joint – ventures such as & # 171 ; NobelOil & # 187 ; , & # 171 ; KomiArcticOil & # 187 ; , & # 171 ; KomiQuest & # 187 ; and others where the specializers from Canada, the USA, Great Britain, France work. In fall 1994 our Usinsk became universe – known as the town where the greatest ecological catastrophy took topographic point. The old oil grapevine was broken, a batch of oil and merchandises streamed on and in the land, flew into the rivers and their feeders. As our town is immature we have no theaters and museums, historical and memorial topographic points. But we have a film, the Palace of Technics a swimming-pool, a hockey bowl, the House for Schoolchildren where there are a batch of different nines, studios for adolescents and a batch of students attend them.
There is besides a musical and art school, seven schools, many kindergartens. There is an airdrome and a railroad station and our people can travel to Moscow, Syktyvkar, Ufa, Kazan by plane and by train.
Our town is surrounded by woods, there are besides little rivers and lakes. Our people like to pass weekends in the woods picking mush-rooms and berries in fall, skiing in winter and in early spring. Our work forces and male childs are fond of fishing.
As for me, I like my town, it & # 8217 ; s so lovely.
