AND ETHAN FROME COMPARISON
The novel s The Bridges of Madison County and Ethan Frome were really exceeding narratives. Each novel focused on a concealed love that could non be known to others because of the awful destiny it would instance. I thought that the narratives mimic Robert Frost s poem the Road Not Taken, except that both Francesca and Ethan Frome take the route that everyone else took. They did non take the route less traveled because they felt that allowing the universe know they were together would destroy everyone s lives. These two people cared more about others and what they thought of them, and so they did themselves. If they would hold taken the route less traveled and run off together so the narratives would hold non been so interesting. Francesca and Ethan do the good human thing by non being with the 1 they love and remain with whom they married foremost. The novels are that of expectancy and effects of passion. Which way should they follow? Should they follow their Black Marias or non?
The scenes in the Bridges of Madison County were beautiful and calm the whole clip. There was no alteration in the milieus that would do you experience like something bad would go on. The narrative has an emotional tenseness at some points and so a relaxing in love feeling at other times. In Ethan Frome the scene is cold and lifeless. The ambiance is so dark and glooming. Whenever Ethan finds his true love it seems as though the atmosphere gets a small brighter in Ethan s eyes, because he is happy now.
Understanding the ideas and feelings of both Francesca and Ethan are really interesting. As you watch Francesca, before she commits to the matter, you understand her tenseness, her indecisiveness. Ethan Frome was the same manner ; he watched his every move around Mattie and tried to conceal his feelings until he could no more. Each clip you can see the characters react to each other they see to be proving each other, traveling closer and endorsing off, until eventually they come together. We knew that Ethan was in love with Mattie, but he acted like the existent adult male because he hid most of what he felt, and that is how work forces truly do move.
