b) Character Traits: -Katniss Everdeen: She is sixteen years old, and is portrayed as quiet, independent and fierce. Her looks are typical for someone from the Seam (the slums of District 12): long dark hair (which she wears in a single braid down her back), olive skin, and grey eyes. She lives with her mother and her younger sister, Primrose, in District 12, a coal-mining district and one of the poorest districts of Panem. Five years before Katniss became a tribute in The Hunger Games, her father was killed in a mining explosion, and her mother fell into a very deep depression. She became hunting partners and best friends with Gale Hawthorne, who is also from the Seam and whose father was killed in the same mining accident as Katniss’s. She has an excellent talent in hunting with a bow and arrow. -Peeta Mellark: He is the male tribute from District 12, in both the 74th Hunger Games. He is a baker’s son.

He is quite charismatic, which helps him during the Games. He states in an interview after the Reaping that he has been in love with Katniss since the first day he saw her. His relationship with Katniss grows throughout the story. During The Hunger Games, Peeta is certain that Katniss will win because of her experience in hunting. Peeta defends Katniss, and even declares his love for her on public television. Peeta is sincere and very good with words as he shows throughout the book.

Peeta is not mastered in any sort of defensive activity or is agile with any weapons but he is shown to be the master of disguise. Peeta is a caring character that represents sacrifice since he always had the intention of having Katniss, the girl he’s always loved, win the competition and go back to her home with her mother and sister. c) With which one you identify yourself? -Raischa: I identify myself with Peeta Mellark. I feel like I identify to him since he’s a sincere person, not very good with physical activities but a master in arts.

Peeta has many characteristics that I wish I could relate to, like he’s determination, he’s passion, he’s sacrifice and many other amazing character traits. Peeta shows to be very good with words and how he expresses them and I feel like I can actually relate to that. * Genesis: * Setting: -The story takes place in several places whenever it’s at her home in District 12’s ‘The Seam’ or whenever it’s in The Arena where all the action of the book takes place.
