The U. S. is among the richest states in the universe today. yet 1000000s of people still live below the poorness degree. The figure of American kids populating in poorness is increasing twenty-four hours by twenty-four hours. “Poverty in America has become a great threat to children’s wellbeing as it affects them emotionally. socially. and even in their school public presentation ( Wood 720 ) ” . Poverty in America is chiefly caused by deficiency of occupations and minimal pay. Furthermore. the rise in the cost of life can be said to besides do poorness in the US. Indigence exists in America despite the fact that it is among the richest states in the universe and The Glass Castle illustrates a household that lived in poorness in the US. The Glass Castle is written by Jeannette Walls who writes a memoir about her poorness afflicted life and that of her siblings. She recounts how they were nurtured in a dysfunctional household. The Glass Castle describes the jobs and challenges of kids populating in poverty in America. Jeannette narrates her battle in destitution as a kid and as an grownup. but in the terminal. she manages to be a successful individual.

Children life in poorness are most affected in the United States. “Most kids from low-income households experience hungriness jobs because their parents can non afford to feed them at times ( Dahl Gordon and Lochner 1930 ) . ” The deficiency of nutrient in the household made Jeannette steal some nutrient from her schoolmates. Even though life changed for sometime. they still went back to a hapless life after their male parent lost his occupation once more. Jeannette’s household is an illustration of a poorness afflicted household in America. The kids were forced to travel from one metropolis to another. one place to the other. and from one school to the other because of inadequacy. “Poverty in America affects the children’s development because of deficiency of basic demands. particularly nutrient ( Wood 736 ) . ” The kids in The Glass Castle lived a life full of need. but they were forced to get the better of the challenges in their on ways.

In The Glass Castle. the kids were able to react in a positive manner to their state of affairs and worked difficult to acquire out of need. However. “in most poorness afflicted households in America. most of these kids drop out of school because they can non take it any longer ( Brooks-Gunn and Duncan 60 ) . ” In add-on. most of them even end up going street kids. The household cared for each other and they strived to be successful. which they did. except for Maureen who ne’er accepted to be helped. Even though they were able to do it the hereafter. the need in their household had them see a hard life. which affected them emotionally. socially. and their life as a whole. In The Glass Castle.
