Womans Who Changed the World: Rosa Parks

There were many adult females who have changed the universe in the Fieldss of math,

scientific discipline, athleticss, music, composing and leading. Rosa Parks was a leader to assist

the inkinesss become equal to Whites. Eleanor Roosevelt was besides a leader because

she helped the hapless. Harriet Tubman was besides a leader which helped free black

slaves.

I am traveling to state what Rosa Parks did to assist the universe be a better

topographic point. Parks, Rosa Louise ( 1913- ) , civil rights leader, born in Tuskegee,

Alabama. She attended Alabama State College, worked as a dressmaker and

housekeeper, and was active in the Montgomery Voters League and the NAACP

( National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ) Youth Council. In

1943 she was elected secretary of the Montgomery subdivision of the NAACP. In a

celebrated incident in 1955 she was arrested for go againsting segregation Torahs when

she refused to give up her bus place to a white rider. This resulted in a

boycott of the coach system by inkinesss, with Martin Luther King, Jr. cubic decimeter

eading the

motion. In malice of torment the boycott continued, and in 1956 segregated

seating was challenged in a federal case. Within a few months bus segregation

was ruled unconstitutional, and the coachs were officially desegregated in

December 1956. Parks, who had lost her occupation because of the boycott, moved to

Detroit, Michigan, the undermentioned twelvemonth, and once more took in stitching. She besides worked

as a fundraiser for the NAACP. In 1965 she was hired by Congressman John Conyers,

Jr. , besides a civil rights leader, to pull off his Detroit office. She remained

active in the NAACP and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference ( SCLC ) . In

1987 she founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development,

offering counsel to immature inkinesss. She won the NAACP & # 8217 ; s Spingarn Medal ( 1970 ) and

the Martin Luther King Jr. Award ( 1980 ) , every bit good as an honorary grade from Shaw

College.

I think that without Rosa Parks or any other work forces or adult females who tried to

halt the racism against inkinesss has helped our state in a large manner. Without

these people our universe would be prejudice and racialist.
