Drama Program Acceptance Essay, Research Paper

I fell in love with moving the minute I foremost stepped on phase as Laertes when I was 16. Since so, both my attitude toward and involvement in the dramatic procedure have merely increased. This semester, I was able to take my first play category here at Duke. Jay Oberski, who is my instructor for Drama 99S, has merely added to my love of the phase by demoing me merely how much merriment one can hold while moving. Because of this adult male, I hope to prosecute a major in play, every bit good as go on my moving calling at the collegiate degree and hopefully beyond.

I foremost came to hear of the play plan in London through one of the pupils in my category who participated in it last summer. This miss had merely rave reappraisals to give me of the categories, public presentations, and atmosphere in London. I so decided that I needed to look into this plan farther. The minute I picked up the information brochure, I realized that the play plan in London was most decidedly for me. In add-on to the fact that the two categories offered would number toward my major, this plan has so much to offer me as both a pupil and a individual. First of all, I have ever

wanted to see the great metropolis of London. One of my best friends here at Duke is from London and has painted a image of such admiration in my head that I could non assist but fall in love with the metropolis. Second, I have ever enjoyed traveling to productions, particularly the 1s on Broadway that I attended with my grandparents. From what I have heard, the quality of theater in London is on par, if non better than, that of Broadway. I am genuinely aroused to see play in another civilization.

When this summer has come and gone, I expected to derive so much if allowed to take part in this fantastic escapade. Most significantly, I hope to get a farther apprehension of the dramatic procedure. Through both the text and public presentation categories along with an exposure to a different civilization, I believe that this end is readily come-at-able. In add-on to this, I expect my love of moving and the dramatic procedure to turn even more. Each new experience that I have had with play has given me farther insight into this country, hence leting me to appreciate and look up to it farther. Finally, by sailing into a new and different civilization, I hope to undergo a fantastic experience that I will ne’er bury.
