Fate is the course that life takes whether the person wants it to go that way, or not. It is believed by many that our lives are predestined by a higher power of some kind. Some believe their fate can be altered by the choices they make in their lives. Others believe that no matter what your free will chooses, you will always be on the course that was predetermined long ago. Fate is a complex idea that is believed by many people to be the one and only definition of life. Most religions believe that their lives are in the hands of a higher power, whether God, Buddha, or another mystical force.
In the Bible it says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. ” This verse tells that God has a life plan for each and every person put on Earth. The verse also explains why if a person does any evil doing they must pay for it because the evil that was done was not in God’s overall plan. Jeremiah 29:11 shows that believers of the Bible believe that their lives are predestined by a higher power, in this case, God. Fate can be understood as a theory that a person’s fate can be altered by the choices they make in their life.
This theory is also known as karma, which is believed by Hinduism and Buddhism. The Buddha once said, “All living beings have actions (Karma) as their own, their inheritance, their congenital cause, their kinsman, their refuge. It is Karma that differentiates beings into low and high states. ” This means that if a person makes a good choice or does a good deed they will be rewarded with a bright future. This is unlike if a person does a bad deed because according to Karma, if a person does a bad deed they will have to pay for it in the end.
The teaching of Karma is similar to Jeremiah 29:11 because God said if people follow his plan they will have good futures. Karma and the altering of fate is just another way of showing fate’s existence not only through book religion but also spiritual religion. Another way fate can be justified is by a predestination that took place before anyone’s life started, if this is true, it means that no matter what a person tries to change about their life, they will always be on the predetermined path made by a higher power ong ago. In Ecclesiastes 6:10 of the Bible it says, “Whatever has come to be has already been named, and it is known what man is, and that he is not able to dispute with one stronger than he. ” This verse is saying that a person’s life has already been predestined by a higher power, God. It also says that since it’s already been predetermined the person cannot change their fate because they cannot cheat God at his own game. A person cannot decide their own fate when it is predestined like it says in Ecclesiastes.
Predestination is just a more elaborate form of fate that can also be justified by the Bible and other religions. Fate is a mysterious theory that can mostly be justified by religion. It could be justified to be in the hands of a higher power like said in Jeremiah 29:11. Another way fate can be explained is by the force of Karma believed by Buddhists and Hindus. Or it could be taught as predestination like it was taught in the Ecclesiastes verse. Anyway a person looks at it; fate can be justified to be a true cause of life in some way.
