This study evaluates the societal impact of the installing of Closed Circuit Television ( CCTV from now on ) cameras in our vicinity. These cameras have been placed by the local authorities with the purpose of take downing offense rates. Participants filled a questionnaire. and this study is based on their feedback.

Positive effects

It’s been a month since the installing of the cameras. and they have already paid off as a great discouraging system. Misdemeanors such as hold-ups have lowered by 25 % . whereas sexual assaults have lowered by an amazing 78 % . Peoples say that they feel safer and protected now.

Negative effects

However ( and paradoxically ) . people don’t want to be observed 24/7 by the authorities. 75 % of the population feel mildly uncomfortable about being watched all twenty-four hours. but think that this is still a good step. while another 10 % do non hold at all with this system. Among the people who don’t attention about the changeless surveillance. 2/3 are the aged people ( 60+ old ages old ) . On the other manus. the most loath people to the CCTV camera system are between 15 and 25 old ages old. about the 64 % of them. This group has protested against the system. even fall backing to vandalise and destruct the cameras.

Decisions

Most people in the country think of the CCTV cameras as a necessary immorality. and think that their kids are now able to travel out without the fright of being assaulted. of something even worse. Most of them don’t like being observed. specially immature people. but merely a few are truly upset about this fact.

Recommendations

The best solution. given the local response ( and the fact that the country was conflictive plenty to coerce the disposal to put in the cameras ) . would be for the authorities to direct more constabulary to the country. both to protect the cameras and to implement local Torahs. This should take to a farther lowering of offense rates.
