Mexican Americans

It took me a piece to calculate out what I was traveling to travel and make
for my undertaking. I went up to Safeway in West Linn Wednesday
after school to acquire something to eat. There was a janitor there
that was cleaning up. I had seen him at that place before. I decided to
sit down and speak to him. He was have oning his bluish Safeway apron
and a old white frock shirt underneath that went with his black
tie. His black bloomerss were soiled with something that looked like
sodium carbonate.
His name was Gilberto. He told me his last name but I
couldn T pronounce it. He didn t talk the best English and I
didn T speak that much Spanish so it was a small spot harder to
understand some of the things he was stating me about. He has
been working at Safeway since it opened in two summers ago. He
does all the janitorial work for the company. His responsibilities
include ; Washing the floors, taking out the refuse, cleaning
spills, and moves anything around that needs to be moved.
He grew up 20 proceedingss off from Mexico City, Mexico. He
is now 42 old ages old and lives in Beaverton, Oregon. He moved up
two old ages ago and that was when he got his occupation working for
Safeway. I asked him why he works so far off. I m non rather
sure that he understood me, but he said, two hours from here to
my place. I asked him why it took him so long to acquire place and it
is cause he doesn Ts have a auto. He rides the coach from Allen
Blvd.. in Beaverton to West Linn mundane except for Mondays and
Tuesdays and it takes two hours to transpose.
I asked him if he knew about what was go oning on the intelligence
with the two World Trade Center edifices and the Pentagon being
hit by terrorist planes that were highjacked. He was non as really
informed about what had happened and I was trusting to speak to him
more about it. All he said was that he saw it on the intelligence and
that it was non good. He didn T cognize really many words about what
had happened so we moved to a new topic.
I could see that he spoke some English and I questioned how
he learned it and he pulled out this book and said, PCC. I
asked if he went to Portland Community College and he started to
agitate his caput and said, Yeah. So I talked with him a small
more about that, he is traveling to PCC during the dark to take
English categories.
He had with him a LA Laker bag with him. Then he pointed to
his bag and said, Lakers, Number 1. Inside the bag he had a Cadmium
participant and about 5 Cadmiums. I looked through them and he had some
Spanish set that I did non cognize but the remainder of the Cadmiums where
the same that most Americans would listen to. He had Queen, Pink
Floyd, and Van Halen. Those creative persons may non be Americans but
they are really popular here in the USA. I joked with him about
being a Mexican American and he started express joying. I told him
about the vocal that Cheech made up in Cheech and Chongs Next
Movie. It goes something like, Mexican Americans & # 8230 ; ..don T
like to wake up early & # 8230 ; & # 8230 ; but they have to & # 8230 ; .so they do it
truly slow & # 8230 ; . I cant sing the whole vocal but he laughed and
state me that he had seen that film before and so he started
singing the vocal. Gilberto may non cognize the most English, but he
is still one of the funniest cat I have of all time talked to.
I asked if he Had a Wife and he told me about how he had one
back in Mexico City, but he divorced her and has a girlfriend
here in Oregon. He showed me a image of her and she looked
like she was approximately 15 to me but he claims she is 37.
Gilbertos coach was about to come so I left the shop, I m
certain that I will see Gilberto some other clip because he is
ever in at that place. He is a good illustration of a Mexican that came to
live in America because it is a land of chance and I am glad
that I had the clip to sit down and speak to him.
