A mission statement is defined as a statement that defines the nature. intent. and function of an organisation or single. Mission statements help to concentrate resources and usher planning. ( International Encyclopedia of Hospitality Management. 2010 ) A mission statement is a statement of intent that will steer an person or organisation. Similar to a mission statement. a vision statement is defined as a statement giving a wide image to work towards that an organisation or person is taking to accomplish. ( Vision statement. 2009 ) The organisation that I have chosen to research. in respects to their mission and vision statements. is Walmart. I have chosen Walmart because I am intrigued with their success. even in times of uncertainness in the economic system.

Walmart’s mission statement is. “We save people money so they can populate better. ” ( Farfan. n. d. ) Similarly. Walmart’s vision statement is. “If we work together. we’ll lower the cost of life for everyone…we’ll give the universe an chance to see what it’s like to salvage and hold a better life. ” These mission and vision statements were created by Walmart’s laminitis. Sam Walton. and the company strives to work towards these to this twenty-four hours. ( Farfan. n. d. ) From what I’ve seen when shopping at Walmart. I believe they live up to these statements. I ever feel I’m acquiring a really good trade when I buy anything at Walmart. and I am impressed with how Walmart involves itself in local communities to assist them ( for illustration. giving to local schools ) .

I think Walmart’s mission and vision statements are reasonably simple. yet inclusive plenty to direct them in the manner they should travel. I think this is of import. so that an organisation ever knows what determinations to do based upon their mission and vision.
