Ownership can be viewed in many different ways. Some think of ownership as a bad thing. while others think of it as a good thing. Before person can set up their beliefs on what is good and bad. the true significance of what they are being ased must be understood. This controversial inquiry of whether ownership is positive or negative brings up a much more of import inquiry. “What does it intend to have something? ” . Ownership is defined as to hold ownership of something. I believe ownership and sense of ego are integrated together. I think they go manus in manus with each other simply because one can have more than merely a physical object. but every bit good as thoughts. ideas. accomplishments. and cognition.

Merely as the celebrated twentieth-century philosopher. Jean-Paul Sarte. I excessively believe that ownership extends much farther than touchable objects. but to intangible things every bit good. Such intangible things include. ideas and thoughts. Merely you can believe of an original thought or thought. Cipher can set it into your caput. No 1 can hear your ideas besides yourself. which make them yours. This sense of ownership extends physical objects. and involves self ownership. One’s self ownership besides gives a sense of individuality. The ideas and thoughts one “owns” . specify them and is their sense of ego. Not merely does the ownership of ideas and thoughts provide one with a sense of their ego. but every bit good as accomplishments or knowledge one may obtain. Sarte believed that when one becomes proficient in a accomplishment or knows something exhaustively. it means that they “own” that accomplishment or cognition. An experience I have faced that helps me to back up and believe in this thought. is when I joined the volleyball squad at my high school. I spent the full summer practising volleyball at unfastened gym. bettering my accomplishments and fixing for trials that were shortly to come. When trials eventually arrived I was no longer nervous and I trusted myself to make good. This was because I had become much more knowing about the athletics and I “owned” the degree of accomplishment I had worked for and needed to do it onto the squad. I realized that I was no longer seeking to go a volleyball participant. but I was one. The accomplishment I have to play volleyball frequently defines me. whether person is inquiring about myself or sees me in uniform. The accomplishments and knowledge you obtain go your individuality. and this is another illustration of how the relationship between ownership and sense of ego are so intertwined.

I believe ownership of touchable points besides determines one’s sense of ego. Some argue that ownership of touchable points are bad. while others believe they are good. Whether person positions it as being good or bad. it is still true. In today’s society. image is everything. Social categories are based on how much you ain and individuality is based on image. I don’t wholly agree with the statement made by Plato. saying that having objects is damaging to a person’s character. because at the terminal of the twenty-four hours objects can be taken off. I think that having objects can merely go damaging to a person’s character if one becomes more interested in what others think and try to maintain up an image more than their ain personal character. I think people can acquire caught up in an image and go mercenary and selfish. this exposes what type of individual one is. supplying insight to one’s sense of ego.

On the other manus. having touchable objects could besides assist to develop moral character. as Aristotle had said. I instantly supported this thought as I looked down and saw the watchband I wear on my right carpus everyday. This watchband is called a kara. I have owned a kara all of my life. and it serves a spiritual intent to place myself as a Sikh. This touchable object has helped me as a changeless reminder for my ethical motives. subject. and spiritual religion. It is the touchable objects like my kara that aid to develop moral character. My kara is an designation piece that shows everyone what faith I follow. which displays how touchable points identify ourselves.

The relationship between ownership and sense of ego is a really close one. I believe that both the touchable and intangible things in life define ourselves. I feel that people go to things such as touchable objects and intangible things such as ideas. thoughts. accomplishments. and knowledge to non merely place themselves. but “own” themselves and their individualities.
