Winthrop says that they are the “city upon a hill. ” With everyone eyes on them they needed to show the degree of their Christianity. If they all have faith together and joy together. with the will to break their community God will show aid for them. Puritans believed everyone should believe in God.

They looked to progress the instruction in New England with larning because of the consequence it would hold. They wanted to educate their curates to emphasize faith so they built Harvard. the first college. They wanted to emphasize faith so they tried to learn it to those in school. The Puritans used the educational degree of society to act upon others of their strong spiritual beliefs. Puritans believed that a greater result will come if they worked difficult. They thought prosperity and success would merely come if this was done.

A difficult working moral principle was established due to this position and many gained finding. This allowed them to set up a strong commercial economic system. They worked largely on farms. which many were established in the settlements. and traded goods for other goods they did non obtain. Winthrop did fear that his people would hold more satisfaction for the wealth instead than the “piety” that was presumed to convey fiscal loot. Many built their economic system with the trade of their goods and the agriculture techniques.

Farming took months due to the difficult work that came with it and the short growth season. The Puritan commercial economic system grew and many gained wealth from this. but they still looked to work hard and for piousness for their success. The thoughts and values of the Puritans separated them from other signifiers of people. Their manner of thought and positions set up for a spiritual society was drastically diverse. The political. societal. and economical development structured their manner of life and their prosperity.
