The Great Gatsby: Calamity From Lies

In the universe people try to conceal things from each other but one manner or

another they find out what they are concealing. In the Great Gatsby by F. Scott

Fitzgerald, the secretiveness and fraudulence practiced by Jay, Daisy, and Myrtle leads to

inevitable calamity when the truths are revealed.

Jay failed to recognize that if you tell a prevarication most of the clip they

tend to come to a furuncle and explosion. For illustration, & # 8220 ; My household have been outstanding,

comfortable people in this Middle Western metropolis for three generations. & # 8221 ; & # 8230 ; .pg.2

why did he hold to lie when he knew that if they truly got to cognize him they

would happen out the truth. Jay gave everyone the feeling that he was this sort

of rich-snobbish cat. Who knows why. It is non ever good to lie. In Jay & # 8217 ; s instance

when it came down to them happening out the truth they didn & # 8217 ; t cognize whether he was

stating the truth or prevarication. So it was difficult for them to believe what he was

stating.

Daisy was another who would lie because she thought it would maintain

felicity. The manner she lied was different from Jay. She lied to maintain the individual

she thought was the love of her life, Tom happy. Daisy & # 8217 ; s relationship with TOm

was rather unusual. Tom was holding an matter with Myrtle and Daisy truly wanted

to be with Tom, but non truly because she merely did it because she thought she

had to. Daisy was truly in love with Jay but because she felt like she had to

be in love with Tom she would do up prevarications to maintain them together. Tom reasonably

much felt the same manner or he thought Daisy truly liked him so he didn & # 8217 ; t want to

interrupt her bosom. But for them it didn & # 8217 ; t truly work out good. If they would of

told each other their feelings and wouldn & # 8217 ; T of held them back from each other

T

hey could of discussed their personnal state of affairss and they might of had a nice

seperation. But since they chose to maintain things back from each other and lie to

each other everything went awful. For case when the narrative about Jay and

Daisy was coming out she still wanted to maintain it a secret so she said & # 8220 ; Please

allow & # 8217 ; s all go place. Why Don & # 8217 ; t we all go place? & # 8221 ; & # 8230 ; pg.131 it was coming out but she

was still seeking to maintain things back from Tom. What Daisy failed to understand

was the prevarication was non assisting at this point at all. In this conversation Daisy

continued lying stating & # 8220 ; Why- how could I love him-possibly? & # 8221 ; & # 8230 ; .pg. 132 when she

cognize she loved him.

The largest of all prevarications was the Myrtle and Tom matter because everyone

in the narrative seemed to germinate around this issue. Alot of people didn & # 8217 ; t truly

catch what was traveling on. Until Mr. Wilson found out, Myrtle & # 8217 ; s hubby. He loved

her alot and he did non desire to allow her travel so he locked her in the cupboard and

said & # 8220 ; She & # 8217 ; s traveling to remain at that place till the twenty-four hours after to-morrow, and so we & # 8217 ; rhenium

traveling to travel away. & # 8221 ; & # 8230 ; .pg.137 this is the sort of penalty she recieved

after she lied but he wasn & # 8217 ; t traveling to allow her travel. He was traveling to maintain her

locked up until he got ready to travel because she ever talked about traveling.

Otherwise she was traveling to seek to run away with Tom. In the interim Mrs. Wilson

( Myrtle ) is shouting through the cupboard & # 8220 ; Beat Me! & # 8221 ; & # 8230 ; .pg. 138 as if he was the

one in the incorrect non her.

In decision none of these prevarications were kept traveling for along clip. Jay

finally told the truth and got together with Daisy. Myrtle was ran over by

Gatsby & # 8217 ; s auto and Mr. Wilson commited self-destruction. But lies ever tend to prostration.

The secretiveness and fraudulence that was practiced by all of these persons all

collapsed and the truth was revealed
