As war consumed Europe, Americans hoped that the Atlantic

ocean was plenty to seperate them from it and maintain them out of the war.

President Wilson said that the US would remain out of it stating it was? a

war in which we had nil to make? .

But America could non assist but take sides. As immigrants from

Europe gave roots to many Americans, it was difficult for them non to be

opinionated about which side to take. The herirage shared by most

Americans and Britain put American public sentiment on the sides of the

Allies. Trade between the US and the Central Powers besides shrank giving
