The Manatee

My study is on the Trichechus manatus, specifically, the Northern Manatee, better known as the West Indies or West Indian

Manatee. The scientific name of the Northern Manatee is Trichechus Manatus. The Manatee is a versatile animate being when it

comes to it s home ground. It lives largely in shallow salt H2O, although it has been known to populate in fresh water, and

deep salt H2O. The Northern Manatee s chief population is in rivers in Florida and the Caribbean Isles and Sea,

although there are exclusions, such as if the Trichechus manatus gets hurt, it may travel to SeaWorld or topographic points like it, to be healed

and retrieve. The Northern Manatee can and has adapted to worlds in it s home ground. Since the Northern Manatee has no

natural marauders, it can populate in any shallow salt H2O, and comes to many countries with unrecorded coral reefs.

The Northern Manatee grows inside it s female parent for a twelvemonth or more before the calf is born. The calf stays with it s

female parent for around two old ages. At birth the Manatee is a little more than three pess ( 1 metre ) long, and weighs from

25 to 60 lbs. Adult Trichechus manatuss are on mean seven to twelve pess in length, although some have been known to turn

up to 15 pess. The Trichechus manatus is one of the lone Marine mammals. Unlike most mammals, the Trichechus manatus does non hold

shoulders and caput out of the H2O, it is thought that they may hold started the mermaid rumors/stories. The

Trichechus manatus has really weak forepart fins. They have been to a great extent hunted in the yesteryear, although they are now protected

because they are endangered animate beings. It is thought that the Trichechus manatus communicates by contact, more specifically,

muzzle to muzzle contact. The Trichechus manatus is about hairless, except for their moustaches. The Trichechus manatus has leathery

tegument. Manatees are sometimes called sea cattles. This is because Trichechus manatuss are quiet and peaceable. Their lone

defence is to swim off. Since the Trichechus manatus has no natural marauders, the merely danger to it is adult male. The chief ground

for the Trichechus manatus acquiring killed by adult male is that the Trichechus manatus is a really funny animate being. It will sometimes swim up to a

boat and acquire hit by it or it will sometimes acquire cut up by the boat propellor.
