The Seminole Indians are a folk of Indians who now
hold district and reserves in Florida and Oklahoma.
They one time belonged to the Muskogee folk that lived along
watercourses in what are now southern Georgia and Alabama.
The Seminoles moved to Florida and Oklahoma
around 1708 when the white work forces drove them out of their
places and took their land. The Seminoles adjusted good to
life in Florida.
In the late 1700? s and early 1800? s Florida was a
district of Spain, that made the Seminoles Spanish
citizens. Like white work forces, they had black slaves, but they
treated their slaves with regard. In the early 1800? s
General Andrew Jackson attacked the few Seminole
small towns left in Georgia and forced most of the Indians to
flee to their relations in Florida. Among them were a
immature adult female and her boy, Osceola, who would turn up to
go a great Seminole leader. This onslaught started the
First Seminole War.
Florida was sold to the United States by Spain in
1819. In 1823 the Seminoles signed a pact giving up most
of their land. Once they moved into their new
reserves
in Central Florida Andrew Jackson who was president at
the clip signed the Indian Removal Act which required all
Seminoles to travel to the Indian Territory, which is now

This started the Second Seminole War. During the Second
Seminole War many of the Seminoles gave up and went to

Osceola was taken captive by the United States
authorities. He died in prison.
The Florida Seminoles ne’er signed a formal peace
pact with the United States. The Seminole Indians are
still populating in reserves in Florida and Oklahoma, The
Seminole Tribe of Florida, Inc. , has its central offices in
Hollywood, Florida, where there is a reproduction of a traditional
chickee small town.
The Seminole Indians have been in what is now The
United States of America for over 15 thousand old ages.
They have been through many wars and have had many
calamities along the manner. The Seminoles ever were a
strong folk and go on to be a strong folk.
