On Oct 10. 2012 a woman’s rights were violated when an inmate ( female ) gave birth to her first kid. No physicians were present during labour nor during the existent bringing.

Said inmate. Julie Bilotta. had reported that the guards at her prison had heard her calls of hurting during labor and had chosen to disregard it. If that wasn’t bad plenty. the guards even got annoyed of her changeless shouting and had her transferred to a new cell. Julie finally gave birth 4 hours after the transportation. Fortunately. the babe was born and is healthy.

My personal position on this issue is that this is an incident that should hold ne’er happened. I think that we are a civilised plenty society to recognize that these inmates are still people. they are merely people who have made errors. While paying for it. should they be treated like they are non even humane plenty to hold a proper wellness attention when in demand? Not merely that. but because of this epidemic a child’s. or mother’s. life could hold been taken off. With about no aid at all. this adult female gave birth. jeopardizing both her kid and her ego.

The study even stated that the baby’s birth was something called a “breech birth” ( that’s when the babe enters the birth canal either natess or pess foremost instead than the head. ) something like this is highly serious during birth because it can sometimes take to the babe acquiring caught and choking to decease. Besides. the adult female giving birth can perchance shed blood to decease. That is why there is normally a medical process called a “c-section” for the safety of both female parent and kid.

So far. the major rights that I see violated are.
1 ) Article 3:
Everyone has the right to life. autonomy and security of individual.

An guiltless kid. who hasn’t even been born long plenty to even do errors. has had it’s life at hazard. It has the right to populate. and that prison took off it’s right by declining to give the female parent proper medical attention. What if that babe truly had died for something that could hold been easy avoided?

2 ) Article 25.
( 1 ) Everyone has the right to a criterion of life adequate for the wellness and wellbeing of himself and of his household. including nutrient. vesture. lodging and medical attention and necessary societal services. and the right to security in the event of unemployment. illness. disablement. widowhood. old age or other deficiency of support in fortunes beyond his control.

This article states that everyone has the right to proper wellness attention. Although. in all equity. the prison guards did hold Julie checked out by nurses. the ground why she didn’t receive proper medical attending is due to the fact that they thought it was a false labor. But even at that. they should hold made certain that it was so false labor by acquiring a proper medical examination by a physician. At least that’s what standard process provinces. and harmonizing to article 25: Everyone has the right to standard populating equal including things like wellness attention.

I do believe that something like this will non go on of all time once more since it caused such an rebellion by a group of adult females rights militants. Along with all the imperativeness the incident got when it foremost occurred. it seems that everyone has the same ideas on this affair and that. hopefully. this is the last clip that this is to of all time go on.

However. if people still don’t acquire the message after this incident. I strongly believe that there should be some prison regulation saying that when an inmate is pregnant the babe. and mother’s. good being become top precedence and handle the birth the same as if the female parent weren’t a captive.
