Betrayal Essay, Research Paper
The snow mounted up over the jade subdivisions of the fir trees that surrounded the
log cabin. Ben and Jon, two brothers from Gothenburg, were about indistinguishable, but
Jon had a much stronger speech pattern and lighter hair. They were holding a interruption from
their occupations in their uncle & # 8217 ; s log cabin. They both worked in the local proverb factory,
which is more mill than traditional lumber-jacking. They hadn & # 8217 ; t seen him for
old ages, but were supposed to be run intoing him at his hut. The snow crunched under
the pess of the work forces who walked towards a whizzing noise emanating from behind a
derelict hut, of which the roof had caved in after old ages of heavy snow storms.
Jon peered through the frosted glass, but was unable to see anything due to its
translucence. Meanwhile Ben continued to walk around to the dorsum of the hut,
merely to happen the fuselage of a little, private plane. The watercourse of fume and
steam were diffused by fallen subdivisions of the environing trees. Ben called Jon
to come and help him in the doubtful undertaking of looking for anything that would
propose a ground for the plane to crash. Jon swung open the pilot door to, merely
to hold what seemed like a uniformed adult male slumped out, his caput turning to happen
his flesh had been rotted off by clip. A bird, black as the dark, flew out and
skimmed Ben merely above his oculus, interrupting the tegument. Jon lunged back to back up
his brother and helped him to sit on a tree stump. After a few seconds they
turned unit of ammunition to farther look into the plane and its contents. Jon went to the
rider door but was unable to open it due to a massively heavy subdivision between
him and the grip. Determined to happen anything that could state them what and,
more significantly, why this had happened, he picked up a stone. He held it,
playfully tossed it, caught it, and with no warning, turned and shattered the
glass of the window. He reached indoors and pulled out a green canvas bag. As he
tugged, he scraped it on the staying splinters of glass, that remained on the
frame of the window. Jon so took the bag under his arm and carried it over to
Ben. He squatted beside the bag and hurriedly unzipped it to research its contents.
The first thing they came to was a moth-eaten envelope, written on it were the words
“ Open, when you have done what you have to ” . Ben suggested opening it,
but Jon paid no attending to him. He so followed his brother & # 8217 ; s eyes down to
the bag, he couldn & # 8217 ; t believe what he could see. Ben leant down to hold a closer
expression. Jon pulled out a wad of notes, it was money. Ben held, in each manus, at
least 50 $ 100 measures, they unloaded the hoard as if they were burrowing to
the underside of the bag. There was money all over the snowy land, they both
leant dorsum and took a breathing place. They asked themselves what they had merely found.
Another inquiry that was asked as they made their manner back to the cabin was who
was the pilot? Jon was stop deading and as he put his custodies in his pockets, he felt
the envelope that he ha
vitamin D pulled out of the bag. He considered what to make with
the money with his brother. They had the option of informing the constabulary or
maintaining it for themselves. Merely so Ben walked directly into a low hanging
subdivision, Jon criticised him by inquiring him why he did that. Ben worryingly replied
“ I couldn & # 8217 ; t see it, what & # 8217 ; s incorrect with me? ” . Images of possible causes
for this loss of eyesight flashed passed Jon & # 8217 ; s eyes. “ Of class, it & # 8217 ; s the
bird! ” . Ben reached up and felt his biting brow, he could experience the
warm blood against the bitterly cold air. Ben, despite his missing vision, took
charge of the state of affairs. He claimed he should be in charge because of his
superior strength, which humoured Jon but he had no peculiar ground to reason
with him. Jon was convinced that the best option was to maintain the money and portion
it between them, and possibly their uncle. However, Ben was eager to give up the
money and to make the “ right thing ” , which Jon idea was farcical.
“ How can you be so stupid? ” Jon shouted while forcing his partially
sighted brother onto the armchair in the hut. Both Ben and Jon were surprised by
his choler and strength, as he had ever let Ben take charge and wouldn & # 8217 ; t argue.
The afternoon went easy, the two to the full grown work forces were contending like school
male childs. Jon was have oning the bleached carpet thin, waiting for the celebrated Uncle
David to turn up. The eventide came and they decided to turn in for the dark,
even when Jon was assisting Ben up the stepss to the sleeping rooms. Ben slipped on one
of the last stairss. He shouted out to Jon “ assist me, I & # 8217 ; m stealing ” . He
idea, good, the money & # 8217 ; s every bit good as lost if he gets his manner. Why should I assist
him? ” Ben tumbled in a bone-crunching autumn down the steps. He laid in a
hapless pile on the floor. Jon knew what he had done, but couldn & # 8217 ; t believe it.
Even though he wasn & # 8217 ; t believing consecutive and knew it, he reached for his coat and
lifted his brother over his shoulder. The snow was coming down like nil he
had seen earlier. He was believing approximately where he would set the organic structure of his once
loved brother, he so had an thought that was reasonably close perfect. As he went
towards the sight of the plane clang he thought about the money that is now his,
all his. He laid Ben in the rider place, but to set him at that place he had to tilt
over the pilot & # 8217 ; s quickly disintegrating organic structure. As Jon staggered back to the log cabin
to pack up his things and to come up with an alibi he felt as though there was
something in his pocket. He remembered the missive and decided that so was as
good a clip as any to open it. He couldn & # 8217 ; t believe what it said and was so
freaked out by this he about vomited. Jon dropped the missive and ran back to
the log cabin, he was convinced he was being watched. The missive read: I am glad
you found my money, nevertheless it is a shame that you had to contend so terribly
over, what was supposed to be, a gift. Jon, you did what you had to make. I am
proud of you.
