Nature Essay, Research Paper
( I had to compose this for English & # 8212 ; my favourite topographic point in
nature, and we had to include a quotation mark from Thoreau & # 8217 ; s & # 8220 ; Walden

of fortune I did & # 8211 ; Ranestarr
From my personal position, a hurricane holds the power
to transform the shoreline into a helter-skelter threshold before a
collosal somber-blue monster. As the sea and shore clasp
custodies, a storm of such magnitude can easy do the embracing
look to be a violent onslaught, as the elephantine crestless waves assault and
gnaw the next beach. The sky seems to turn a dark and
murky shell, branding the sand with rings from the falling
beads of rain. I can merely stand in awe when I have the
opportunity to witness the exuberant might of the angered ocean.
The salty winds somehow rejuvenate those who feel its
wrath and rage. These breezes rather literally wake me up,
stimulating me with the same energy in each crashing moving ridge.
They say lightning ne’er strikes the same topographic point twice, but
here it hits the same topographic point each clip? my psyche. All who
go forth their footmarks in the concentrated sand are at the
clemency of this aquatic animal, as he swallows and pummels the
stretches of the beach, this strip of land that lies before
him like a snake who wishes to decease. But what better manner
is at that place for this serpent to achieve its self-destruction, and be reborn
as a new, mutated land mass, scattered with the ripplings of
its killer, every bit good as the tattered shells of those
warriors who fell in their conflict with an angry Poseidon.
Human war International Relations and Security Network? t the lone warfare with casualty. The
ambiance is that of the apocalypse, like the last twenty-four hours on
Earth as the sky and sea is lacerate apart.
The add-on of such a fierce cyclonal storm to the
standard beach scene allows me to recognize how undistinguished
and helpless I would be if nature had decided to keep her
scimitar to my cervix. It forces me to see how violent the
universe is, even without humanity. However, it besides shows me
the amazing energy of the individual entity that keeps us
alive? the Earth. If she lacked the strength that exists
in such a blast of air current and rain, I doubt she? vitamin Ds have the
staying power to supply the air we breathe, or the nutrient we
indulge in. The elephantine surfs I? ve witnessed merely turn out
that nature will ever rule us, no affair how much we
maltreatment and colza it.
? Simplicity, simpleness, simpleness! ? Henry David Thoreau
believed life was better when it was simple. But how can I
agree as I watch such pandemonium in enjoyment and exhilaration.
The hurricane is a metaphor for our lives. If there is no
convulsion, so there is no exhilaration. Without menace,
at that place? s no ground to populate. Simplicity is merely the absence
of emotion, a word I consider a equivalent word for numbness. I
would conceive of I? d loathe life in a universe with no
depression, choler, and hatred. If these negative emotions
didn? t exist, there would be no positive. Without
depression and hatred, where would our felicity and love
come from? Therefore, I disagree with Thoreau. He was
merely showing his want for an ideal universe where worlds
could merely bury evil. But to bury the bad things in
life, we can? t be simple.
