In my sentiment. I find the sociological definition of faith to be my favourite and most helpful. Clifford Geertz explains his definition really clearly. stating that faith is a system of symbols which acts to set up powerful. persuasive and durable tempers and motives in work forces by explicating constructs of a general order of being and vesture these constructs with such an aura of factualness that the tempers and motives seem unambiguously realistic.
What I believe he means is that alternatively of looking at theories and things of that nature about how faith started. we should look at constructs beyond faith itself. I found that the Australian Aborigines follow closely along this same definition of faith. To the Aborigines. the universe has ever existed. intending everything was ever here ; they had no creative activity myths. They had believed the ultimate supreme was associated with the sky and was the beginning for all power in the existence. but said it was non the focal point of worship.
