When the Civil War eventually came to an terminal the South was in devastation. The substructure of the South had been copletely destroyed and ruined. Gen. Sherman’s March was genuinely lay waste toing for the South and it’s agribusiness. Not merely was the South’s land in demand but besides its authorities was in debt. The South was genuinely in demand for a “Reconstruction. ”

Reconstruction was the period after the Civil War when we were in demand to reunite our state in peace. The Recomstruction period lasted from 1865 to 1867. so about two old ages. There were many successes and failures in the Reconstruction. One of the obvious successes was the reuniting of the state one time once more. Another great success. and one that I believe was likely the best success. was the freedom for slaves. The slaves were eventually free at the terminal of the Civil War. Through the Reconstruction there were Acts of the Apostless that still had to be passed though to finally give the full civil rights to African-Americans. The first act was the “The Thirteenth Amendment” . which really freed the slaves from their proprietors.

Following “The Fourteenth Amendment” . was passed which said that cipher could take away the right’s of any citizen no affair what race. gender. or age. Then “The Fifteenth Amendment” . was passed which gave the vote rights to the African-Americans. After these Acts of the Apostless. African americans were genuinely equal in the U. S. One other success that I know of is “The Enforcement Act of 1870. ” This act said that it was non aloud for people to utilize force. briebery. or panic to forestall people from voting merely because of their race. These are some out of many successes during the Reconstruction. but their were besides many failures during this period.

The successes of the Reconstruction were great. but there were still failures. One failure was the revenue enhancement. Because the South was in demand of reconstructing and mending. they raised the revenue enhancements to assist with that. Corruptness in the authorities made those revenue enhancements worst. Peoples in the authorities would up the revenue enhancements and so utilize most of it for their ain demands or privation. Another failure. and likely the worst. was proverty. The South was in great poorness after the war. Not merely for the authorities but besides for the husbandmans who lost most their land and besides all their slaves which worked the land for them. The failures of the Reconstruction were great and difficult to acquire through. but finally. we made it through those old ages and the Reconstruction ended.

Reconstruction I would hold to state was overall a great success. Yes. their were devestating failures and difficult times to acquire through. but I would detest to see what the U. S. would be like right now if we would hold ne’er went through the Reconstruction or passed all those Acts of the Apostless to assist this state. I think the Reconstruction could hold gone better if we would hold joined the Union back together Oklahoman so when we did. Besides. if Lincoln could hold finished his term in presidential term. the state would hold been so much better. The Reconstruction was a great thing. it had its downs and its ups but it was precisely what this state needed.
