Literature is the look of ideas. thoughts. or feelings person may hold and can either be written or spoken. Often times we become portion of the literature in a manner to seek to understand what the message is that the writer is seeking to supply to us. The literary work that I have chosen was a verse form written by Robert Frost in 1916 titled. The Road Not Taken. There were a few grounds why this piece of literary work captured by involvement and the first was that in High School we spent a hebdomad provided our analysis on this piece. It caught my involvement based on the genre. Poetry is a type of literature that is unfastened to reading and there is genuinely no right and incorrect reply so it gives me the chance to analyse it without at that place genuinely being a right or incorrect reply. I would hold to endorse up my sentiment with facts. What besides caught my attending was the usage of tone. symbolism. and imaginativeness. My feelings on the tone over clip have changed and I feel that the tone is more depressive. I can use what I feel the significance of the verse form which to me means the journey we take in life and the picks we make and how we look back at them. Second the usage of symbolism can be seen throughout the full verse form and can be applied to everyone’s life. Imagination can be tied with the symbolism. Robert Frost usage of imaginativeness gives the verse form significance and allows us to prosecute in identify with his significance is and is seeking to portray to us.

One of the analytical attacks in Journey into Literature written by Clungston ( 2010 ) . is a reader-response attack. It is a manner to happen a personal nexus with the verse form but there is more to this attack. there are a few inquiries that we need to inquire in order to develop a critical analysis of the work. What captured your imaginativeness? Was it a feeling. an emotion. a wonder. or an aspiration? Did it affect a desire to get away a past or present association? What motive or alteration did my connexion with this piece of literature create in my thought? In my relationships? What connexions can I do between this piece of literature and others that I’ve read? Did my “connection” reinforce things I knew or add new penetrations? These are the inquiries that need to be answered prior to continuing with a critical analysis essay of a peculiar piece of literature.

The verse form The Road Not Taken. written by Robert Frost is a verse form which consist of four stanzas that each contain fives lines. What first drew me in was the symbolism and imaginativeness which caused me to develop a personal and emotional connexion to the verse form. I developed a personal connexion with the verse form from the first stanza. ” Two roads diverged in a xanthous wood. And regretful I could non go both And be one traveler” ( Frost. 1916 ) . His usage of symbolism can be seen in this poetry intending the determinations people make in life or the alone way we all travel in life. He so proceeds to state us how he is believing about his determinations prior to doing it and seeking to weigh the options and seek to find the results. “long I stood And looked down one every bit far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth” ( Frost. 1916 ) . In the verse form Frost describes how he looks down both waies and how one looked better than the other but both are about the same.

What I believe Frost is stating that both picks look good and that one may be better than the other but both have been followed. “I shall be stating this with a suspiration Somewhere ages and ages therefore: Two roads diverged in a wood. and I— I took the 1 less traveled by. And that has made all the difference” ( Frost. 1916 ) . In this his last stanza he tells us that in the hereafter he knows that we would look back and with a “sigh” that he took the route less traveled significance that he made a pick that many do non do but this made all the difference. Now when I read the line “I took the 1 less traveled by. ” ( Frost. 1916 ) and I look at the rubric I begin to inquire why the rubric is non “The Road Less Traveled. ” The verse form does go forth a lingering sense of melancholic enigma in my head and I think both the “sigh” and rubric express this. I believe that Frost regrets the determination he has made this is why he would mention back to the route he did take. Besides with the rubric The Road Not Taken. Robert Frost seems fixated on what is down that way that he did non take. Robert Frost has left this verse form unfastened to many different readings. I believe that everyone can happen their ain significance to this verse form based on their life experiences. Based on his usage of metaphors. symbols. and imaginativeness. he leaves the significance unfastened to the reader.
