Historical Context- President Richard M. Nixon was being charged of seeking to cover up the Watergate incident. Watergate was and still is the central office for the Democratic Party. Some of Nixon s work forces broke into the complex and tried to wire tap the telephones. However, the staff of life in went bad. So, they went in the 2nd clip but this clip they were caught by a security guard. They were taken to prison. The ground why the work forces wanted to wire tap the phone was so that they can seek and happen some soil about the Democratic campaigner running against Nixon for the Presidency. But, they finally they started speaking. They told everyone that President Nixon was involved with the offense. Facts of the Case- Nixon tried to keep grounds back from Congress. The grounds that he tried to maintain from Congress was the tapes that recorded Nixon speaking to his staff in private. He ruled the Executive Privilege to seek and maintain the tapes off from Congress. Executive Privilege is a privilege that let the president to with hold grounds or information that could take to jeopardizing the Nations Security. He claimed that by taking these tapes and playing them, it will be risky for the Nations security. The ground he said this was because the Watergate recordings were on the tape and besides top secret information that was passed or used in the Oval Office. He claimed that if some of these entering were played that it would ache the authorities more that it will ache him.
