Throughout literature there are many heroes. However. the Epic of Gilgamesh was the first written heroic poem. doing Gilgamesh the first recorded heroic poem hero. These five qualities are that the hero is born under unusual fortunes. he or she leave their household to populate with person else. an event occurs that leads to an escapade or quest. the hero has Godhead or supernatural aid. he or she faces many obstructions on an escapade. and he or she has a fatal defect. Gilgamesh was born two-thirds God. and one-third adult male. giving him supernatural abilities. These abilities made him chesty. and although it is non now. back so it was respected. While Gilgamesh was respected. many people disliked him. Because of this. Gilgamesh was challenged by the Gods. They sent a wild adult male named Enkidu to see if Gilgamesh would be able to get the better of him.

This was the first of many obstructions that Gilgamesh has to confront through the class of the heroic poem. When Enkidu dies. Gilgamesh travels into the wild in hunt of Utnapishtim. This is the beginning of his quest. While on this journey. Gilgamesh encounters elephantine Scorpios. and a adult female that tries to roll him from his way. but he perseveres.
