In the drama, The Crucible, many analogues can be found in mention to the 1950 Communist tests led by Joe McCarthy. In this work by Arthur Miller, the events of the 1692 Salem enchantress tests parallel those of the McCarthy tests, in that, both events were non merely based on unsubstantial grounds but caused mass craze that destroyed the lives and reputes of those involved.

In the Salem enchantress tests, unsubstantial grounds was present in each of the events. Peoples seeking to salvage themselves from being prosecuted created the grounds from the enchantress tests. The analogue of the McCarthy tests was that people would falsely impeach other people of being a member of the Communist party. One of the lines of the drama quotes John Proctor, ? ? as I have quailed, and as you that this be fraud? God damns our sort particularly, and we will fire, we will fire together? . ( Miller, 1240 )

The mass craze of the enchantress tests was contrived by indicating incrimination at each other. From, The Crucible, the misss, led by Abigail Williams, turned the town hysterical, and blamed other people

to cover their wickedness. In the McCarthy tests, Joe McCarthy did non cover his wickedness, but he feared that there were Communists within the authorities. McCarthy and his intuitions ruined many peoples? lives. Jobs were lost, households torn apart, reputes non merely bruised, but besides scarred, and lives ruined. In the drama, the same things happened, non merely to the hapless, but besides to the well off, including clergymans. One of the lives ruined in the drama was John Proctor? s and his household? s, but in the terminal about everything was better.

The Crucible, showed that unsubstantial grounds, and undistinguished people being blamed non merely causes lives, occupations, reputes, and households to be ruined, but besides mass craze takes over the town, or even the state, and disturbances people to no extent.
