The narrative ( The Wonder World of OZ ) written by Frank Baum is filled with symbolism. Symbolism a manner of composing utilizing symbols and indirect suggestion to show thoughts, emotions, people etc. The narrative gives a batch of symbols associating to the gilded age in American history which took topographic point from 1880? 1900. The chief symbols are: Dorothy, the Land of Oz, king of beasts, Emerald City, winging monkeys.

To me I think The Land of Oz symbolizes the Western US. That is because the Western US? s lacking of power and it has no voice, they merely follow the E. The Land of Oz is closely related to the Western US due to the fact that they are merely under the ace? s regulation and that the people have no voice. The munchkins organize themselves in order for them to acquire rid of the enchantress. And so did the westerners they created Alliances so they can acquire rid of jobs much faster and much easier.

Both the king of beasts succeeds in protecting his wood and so does Bryant by having a higher rank in office, and going more popular.
